Where the sun never stops shining
Something I have noticed following our last 4 games is that the opponents fans have all said the same thing.....................our team were rubbish (i.e Bolton, Sunderland, Man Utd, Swansea)

3 of them we beat, the other perhaps with some better shooting could have won or at least got a draw (perhaps).

So my questions are, and I am not strictly talking about Norwich City when I ask ....................
Why does the winning team rarely get any credit for their performance. Perhaps the winning team were simply tactically better on the day and stopped the opposition the way they were set up to do.

When a team loses, why do the fans of the losing side go straight to the "We were crap" statements?

Really would like to know the answer and as further question, do we as Norwich fans do the same? (So far this season I have not seen much evidence to say we do)

Thai - I do agree but we've done so well over the last couple of years that there's still a bit of a honeymoon period, most of us on here are very forgiving atm, I bet if you got a transcription of 'Canary Call' it would be riddled with 'rubbish' comments!

You are not wrong mate, I listen to it after every Saturday game. So right dingbats call in <laugh>
 
I ignore what ever the other team or media says, cos at the end of the day the team that were watching we know are playing well and Lambert knows there playing well and that's all that matters!

At the end of the day, it is a little irritating that they won't give us credit for outplaying them, but, so long as we've got 3 points, stuff 'em, I say!

We need to slip under the radar again like last year, As Beefy calls it "The Leeds effect".......... QPR are taking our attention with their Twitter posting tortured soul, long may it continue...<ok>

I think there's still this 'little provincial club Naaaaardge punching above their weight' amongst pundits, especially MOTD, which tends to rub off on rival fans who don't know any better.

Which of course plays nicely into Lambert's hands, enabling him to quietly go about taking over the world without the glare of excess media hype/expectation to distract him or the squad. <ok>

I was thinking the exact same thing when I was reading the Swansea fans on the Canariez Vs Swanz thread. I think the answer is simple; Paul Lambert!!!

The man has such astute tactical awareness that he will find an opponents weak spot and ruthlessly exploit it. This lays the weaknesses of our opponents on a plate for their fans to see. They then spend the rest of the weak analysing how to fix the problems that Lambert and his coaching team spotted in their previous games.

We're not beating teams because we are better than them or even because we are working harder. We're beating them because Lambert is working out the areas of the pitch where our players will be rewarded for hard graft and they are following his instructions to the letter.
 
I think fans would rather say that their players are having an off day than admit that another team is better than theirs. They think that they could well beat them on another day. They go into the game expecting to win and look for excuses.

I would say the only defending disaster for Swansea was R Martin's goal as he was completely unmarked. But this happens a lot in football and it isn't the first time this season we have scored from a Fox corner or freekick.

I thought that in the first half, after our second goal, Swansea were brilliant and that it evened out in the second half, maybe slightly in Norwich's favour. To say you were poor with 60% is right but didn't Norwich play well as we took our chances and fought out a win against a team who had most of the possession.

I also felt that Williams had a very good game, but not as good as Morison. It was the effort from Morison, not the lack of effort from Williams, which meant that heplayed extremely well against both Taylor and Williams.

You are right about us trying harder, we turned the lack of possession into an advantage and worked hard off the ball.
 
It's just other fans being bitter, to be honest I ignore half the **** they spout out as their opinions mean absolutely nothing to me. If someone hasn't got anything positive, involving banter or worthy of the debate then it's not worth me looking at it my times too precious.
 
the league has a traditional weighting bias to clubs either in London, the Midlands, NW or NE. We don't fit into that pattern. I think we will start to get recognition though.

let's just carry on under the radar like said above. We have no ego's in the dressing room - look at QPR - Barton and Taarabt hate each other already by the sounds of things!

even the bookies don't rate us still - we're 11/10 to go down, same odds as Blackburn (swans and wigan are shorter) and QPR are 11/4!!!

Everything including the media, whilst your at it you might as well throw anything involving Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast into there too.

There was a spell when both City and Town were in the top tier when the pundits did start talking about "the East Anglian clubs" with respect. You can get it, but it takes longer to earn it. (I'm not talking here about those bits of the media which are simply governed by population figures and viewing statistics).

It's easier to take losing if you have not performed than it is to admit that the other team were better. Generally the better side on the day win. It is much easier to take if you can blame your own side for under-performing. It implies that if your team had been at the top of their game then they'd have won.
