Sheff Wed's situation coming down is very different to ours IMO. They weren't as **** in the championship as we were, AND they've retained their manager who has proved to be brilliant at this level. You only have to look at Doncaster last season before and after he left.

I also think too many people seem to be ignoring Rotherham and Wycombe. Rotherham always get promoted out of this division (have the last 3 times they were in it) and have kept most of their squad. Wycombe have strengthened since they were last here.

There'd be a very solid argument for us being out of the top 8 in terms of favourites at the moment. I hope that will change in the next 7 days.

Lee Johnson added: “Corry is an established international and he comes in to anchor, and be the glue in, our midfield. He carries out a special role and it’s something that we’ve needed – we obviously lost a very good one in Grant Leadbitter, but we have been able to replace him with a long-standing international. He will make other players around him better and his maturity, experience and game-understanding will really set him apart.”

Morning all. I'm not too worried about recruitment yet (time to go) but do look around and fear the league is stronger than it has been in recent years. Ipswich and Wigan not going up has left two teams who are itching to spend to move on. People can mock Charlie Wyke but he did score a lot of goals last year and if he does the same this year they'll be a strong contender. Ipswich are going up in my opinion, they were terrible at times last year and looked way off the pace but things look like they are coming together - hopefully not of course.

I agree about Rotherham, they'll be top 6. Probably not automatic but my guess (here's a wildcard for you) is that we'll meet them in the play-offs.

Thing with LJ last year is the peaks and troughs were more extreme than i liked. Runs of great results and poor results, i guess it's a form of consistency... I hope that the following year is a Championship one but even if not I hope the fans can stick to a process as I'd prefer to be taking time to get good players in now and then even if promotion isn't secured this year to at least be building a promotion campaign from strong foundations rather than from ruins.

Thankfully football isn't played on paper. There have been many stories of string squads getting relegated and seemingly weak squads winning titles or getting promotion

If we had to start the season with

    Burge
    O'Nien Wright Flanagan Dyce
    Winchester Evans
    Gooch Pritchard McGeady
    Stewart

Then I wouldn't be too worried. I also have faith that the club are doing the right thing in looking for the right player instead of the ones that are available immediately

I'm optimistic. Plenty of time yet to make signings and for me the two we've made already are canny.

I'd like to maybe give Gooch a chance at rb and move O9 into midfield in place of Winchester

Aye, maybe for home games where we don't need 2 holding midfielders. TBF I'm sure the club have full backs lined up - it's clear to everyone that we need at least 3

I think we'll only have the one holding with O9 being a box to box player

Im worried whenever i see Flannagans name on the team sheet.
Other than that its not a bad team. The Man City lad would be wasted at Leftback though, its only a secondary position for him.

I'd have Gooch nowhere near right back to be honest.

I had Dyce at left back (the u23 we signed from WBA) but you mentioned the lad from Man City sow as asking if you thought I was talking about Doyle

Sanderson had a season at fullback before being seen as physically ready for centre half. A slightly weak centre half due to physical development could still look a strong fullback, where players tend to be less physically imposing. A season at fullback might not be a bad thing but I’d still hope the plan is to get a proper pair of specialty fullbacks, we’ve had to bodge both positions far too much recently.
