I would be more than surprised if this was true. He really has no defined position. You could say he is box to box but equally he is wing to wing. It is wrong to say that Nice fans either love or hate him - he doesn't generate strong feelings either way. Some fans think he is worth his place because of his work ethic, others will point to a lack of outcome to his effort. He is a tall slim guy who is often brushed off the ball quite easily and he is not as good in the air as his height would suggest. My own view? If you asked me to name the 5 best players at the Club he would not appear. To me he is a tall thin version of Gerry Howshall - for those old enough to remember him - runs for ever with little end product.

Sitting in Bar Magnan at the moment with a glass of '3 Monts' in front of me and a very tasty 4 cheese pizza inside me. 30 degrees according to my phone with just a few white clouds. Life is hard sometimes.

It's been pouring in Perth for the past few weeks, we did get one day of good weather over the weekend, but back to storms. The Australians can't compute that Norwich gets 1/3 less rain than Perth

Interesting judgement of the player, perhaps his flexibility/work ethic is the appeal? 28 year old midfielder, rarely missing from a side that finished mid-table in Ligue 1, who we could potentially deploy as an 8 or in a more attacking role if needs be. Sounds like another Rupp type signing, of someone who adds experience and can fill a couple of roles.

He may have the pedigree to be a first team regular, but equally as an option from the bench he still looks a step up over those that departed last season.

Nice want €5m for him apparently, but the finances of Ligue 1 probably mean that's open for negotiation. If we can pay the fee up front rather than in installments, that may help them too.

This seems an odd one. It doesn't appear to address any of the most obvious needs. If I thought it signalled McLean's departure, now that would make perfect sense ........ <rofl>

I suspect that he may be valued for his ball carrying abilities to get the ball to the attacking players as well as his defensive abilities to support the FB on his side. Like the other players coming in, he suggests a tweak in our tactics to a possible 4-3-2-1 or a 4-3-3. Gilmour also has that ball carrying capability and like McLean and Lees-Melou if he comes, he can share the defensive responsibilities in midfield. A 3 man midfield would strengthen us defensively without the need for a dedicated DM in the manner of Tettey and it would also strengthen our ability to hold on to the ball against superior opponents.

Edit: I also wonder we're adjusting our recruitment aims given the difficulties re signing expensive players. With McCallum looking like being loaned to QPR, we'll need another LB now as well as a CB and a striker to replace Hugill if he leaves.
