Maybe. We're a very good team, easily top ten and probably top five in the world. Looking around the only teams that are clearly better than us are France, Belgium and possibly Brazil and Argentina. Italy are most likely losing their excellent back line in the next couple of years. I can see us being in a couple of semi finals in the next few tournaments, not convinced we'll win one or even make a final but I think many of the teams we worry about aren't currently better than us (Germany, Spain, Holland, Portugal)

You have a valid point regarding the team under Southgate. We did seem to just let Italy play tonight and Croatia back in 2018. In both games we took the lead and seemed to have them rattled and yet instead of pushing on we then committed to playing very safe and holding out. Given Italy only managed 30% possession in the semi final it says a lot that they bossed us.
Euro 96 i suggest you re-watch. In no way did we sit back... that extra time in particular was end to end madness.
