Well, well, well. We only went and did it

Shout out to to @O.Spurcat and @KingHotspur for a maximum 20 points in the previous round. Leaves @Roo with a handy 5 point lead with only 1 game to play.

The scoring for the final is 15points for an exact score and 7 points for the right result but incorrect score. If it goes to penalties (please God, no) then 4 points will go to anyone predicting the successful team but not via pens.

So 15, 7 or 4 are the only scoring possibilities. I believe there is no 3rd/4th place play off.

Amazed to still be in the reckoning.
I think we should all PM you our predictions to avoid any shenanigans or undue pressure and to heighten the the tension when we haven’t got a clue who has won until you announce it.

Happy for that to happen. Made the offer for the semis but no one took me up on it. Any DM predictions will be published during the game.
 
Everything about it screams penalties to me but i’m gonna go against my gut and predict

England 2-1 Italy

I'm fully prepared to accept that I've got this totally wrong,
but I think my prediction was effectively the same as (eg) PowerSpurs'.
So why did he get 5 points but I got only 3?
Asking for a friend, of course.

You are right. You actually got 8 points, better than PS cause you got the bonus points for getting ultimate winner of the Italy Spain tie right, even though you got the score wrong.
That said, this happened because several posters reverse the order of the tie. My spreadsheet and the thread had the tie as England v Denmark, but several posters posted it as Denmark v England. I should have spotted this and adjusted but when you are entering data for lots of predictions it is easy to miss.
Moan over and I will correct the table.

I've just read this more carefully, and checked that I did indeed - I must come clean!!!! - NOT predict the winner of the other semi-final! I predicted a Spanish victory (heart overruling head: we have Spanish relations!). So I should get 5 not 8. Thanks all the same!
