A good team must almost manage itself. He’s been around the England set up a long time and worked his way through the ranks, knows it inside out. Not only that he’s a thoroughly decent and grounded chap, not a buffoon like McLaren or a dictator like Capello.

There's plenty waiting to pounce when/if we lose - it doesn't matter that he's smart and articulate and that during his tenure of the under 21's he studied under top coaches (of all sports) all over the world; the armchair managers and critics, the gutter press will all have their say - like the utter ****s that they are.
