I'm not on here to Moan about saints because I love the position were in at the moment!!! But when were away we always seem to not convert our many chancres... Do you think were lacking that ruthlessness or is if just a case of needing another goal scorer??
No different to last season. Often missed a bucket load of chances (home and way) back then too. Despite our impressive goals tallies this season and last, I've never been hugely convinced that putting the ball in the net is our strongest assest.
We miss a fair few at home too! Yesterday, Connelly missed a wide open goal, Guly missed a couple and Chaplow (who kept finding space in between the LB & CB) missed at least 4 opportunities. I think this is because the defenders are looking for Lambo so much that they miss midfielders ghosting into the box I think we do need another stiker to give Rickie a rest or in case he gets injured
I'm nor saying another goal scored Is needed as lallana and Barnard were both injured yesterday but as a fan just really bemused my the amount of efforts missed
At the beginning of the season we were clinical. Often the other team had chances but the difference was our finishing. Now, we're back to last year's form..putting away only a fraction of our many chances. This may be due to other teams treating us more warily and making it harder.
Win your home games and draw them away is promotion form. Saying that it would be nice to put the chances away and get all 3 pts though
I am expecting to see a striker "in the building" come January, probably one of the ones that wanted to stay with there currant clubs at the start of the season!
I suspect you'll be proved right. Just look at the three guys we were linked - Sharp, Maynard and Rodrigues. Well right now, the first two are deep in relegation trouble and the third is stuck in mid-table. If the table stays pretty much the same between now and Jan, the temptation for one of them to join us could well be too much (hell, they might all want to join!).
Yep, pretty much my reaction too. I suppose it's understandable that you'd turn down an up-an-coming promoted team, if you are unsure. Better the devil you know, sort of thing. However, I suspect the rise of SFC has given a few of them a bit of a shock, especially the three you refer to... Sharp, Maynard and Rodrigues. I think their attitudes might have changed come January. Will we need them..? Does The Don forgive..?
I think we'll certainly need them, but it's a good point about will Cortese forgive them? Haha. 'You've had your chance, and you said no to me. Enjoy League One whilst we're in the Premiership. If I ever see you again, you'll receive a visit from my Italian friends'
Neither. You cant win every game away. Doesnt happen. I went up yesterday. I couldnt fault the way we played. We played like the home team for me having 60% possession with them trying to counter attack us. If we can do that against third in the leauge yuo are doing something right. I thought connoly held the ball up great yesterday and him and rickie are the best partnership. Dont change it IMO. It will coe (hopefully on Tuesday).
Our position (if same in January) will be a draw undoubtedly, but it all depends on who's available. Remember if we're still top, we'll definately be looking for someone of PL standard.
if our goals to chances conversion rate is poor now, can you imagine how many goals we will score when we sharpen up?!
Your probably right there will be some new people in the building come January.....NA has hinted as much, see link below. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_7244107,00.html
I was always taught you need to create 4 shots on target to get a goal as an average. Don't panic folks, we are creating the chances and the more chances you create, the more you will miss if you work on the above number. Only very rarely (Utd v Arsenal) do you see the majority of chances go in. I am very happy that when we go away, we are dominating teams for large parts of the game, and creating loads of chacnes. It's all good. Just worry when we don't create.
