Pinkun sounding positive about Billy Gilmour signing for us next week: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/canaries-billy-gilmour-norwich-city-loan-move-8091770
Similar was suggested when Placheta signed. Hopefully Rashica makes more impact. I don't expect big changes given what's been instilled with the established players over the past couple of years. Though with Idah challenging Pukki and the Hugill option, DF has a few styles of play to consider. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rashica challenge Dowell for the middle ACM spot giving more flexibility to use squad places for Hernandez, Placheta (perhaps even Josh Martin) to slot into a vacant wide berth too.
Sure, but that’s not in line with the armpit. It’s in line with the part of his arm which is the point of the horizontal armpit line. Your post above clearly states the vertical line is with the armpit. So you can keep going if you like.
The thing that differs between Rashica and Placheta is that Rashica has already been doing it in a top 5 league
Very true. Rashica was a regular scorer up until last season when his injuries and the team's struggles limited his effectiveness. Placheta's main problem lies in finishing chances. In his 8 starts at WL or WR, his WhoScored rating averages around 6.9 which is very good (Skipp was also 6.9). Given that he's only recently turned 23, he could still develop into a very good player who creates chances and scores goals as well.
All news outlets are reporting that City have won the chase for Gilmour with a medical set for Thursday after his quarantine ends. Another very good acquisition to a squad that is starting to look very decent.
Even with Gilmour, I still think we're in a weaker position than we finished the Championship season (maybe GK department improved), but equally it's not even July yet.
Do we assume that Skipp is not returning? Is Gilmour Skipp’s replacement? So far we have three newcomers Rashica, Gunn and Gilmour. Encouraging to think that Gilmour considers NCFC worthy of a loan transfer. Let’s hope he doesn’t let us down or we let him down. I don’t have faith in Hugill or Idah being able to cope with PL. I hope I am wrong.
I dunno - must be the going rate for a Championship 25 goal striker, with Aston Villa having set the market a number of times
Transfermarkt value Armstrong at £14.4m, so Blackburn's price seems reasonable for a 24 year old striker who's scored 28 goals and made 5 assists. Now that we've signed Rashica, who can also play as a striker and did so 9 times for Werder Bremen last season, I don't think we're interested any more, especially at that price. As for Gilmour, it could well be that we're not willing to wait for Spurs to appoint a new manager so a decision can be made about Skipp. Gilmour has more PL experience than Olly and can also play as an AM, which could be important for link-up play with the attacking players. Much will depend on how soon our new players settle in and the new dimensions they can bring to our play.
My comment was meant to imply that we would never pay £20m for a player: that would be twice the club transfer record.
How about, Thomas Delaney, one of Denmark's heroes from Borussia Dortmund as that experienced DM ? https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...ussia-dortmund-thomas-delaney-denmark-8095484 The downside is that Crystal Palace and Southampton are also said to be interested. At 29, in the last 12 months of his contract at Dortmund, we'd need to negotiate down from his £13m Transfermarkt valuation. Not for the first time though, Paddy Davitt says that our only other midfield options are McLean and Rupp. "Kenny McLean and Lukas Rupp are Daniel Farke’s only senior options in a key area of the field for the Premier League return." Why does he continue to ignore Sørensen?
Meanwhile, Malky MacKay is certain that we're acquiring a gem in Billy Gilmour: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...-believes-target-is-something-special-8092646 Fingers crossed (yes, I know CS) that's how it turns out next season.
I think he would be a good signing if we could get the price down. On the Sorensen subject, he does say “Senior” so I assume it’s just because Lungi is young and relatively inexperienced, helps emphasise his point too. Or maybe he know something we don’t i.e Sorensen is going out on loan or is seen as a defender by those inside the club.
Interesting issue, but it depends on how we look at it. Having lost Buendia, Vrančić, Tettey and Quintilla, we've added Rashica, Gunn and hopefully Gilmour. Rashica could be seen as a replacement for both Buendia and Vrančić but that may depend on how we intend to play next season. Quintilla was useful as back-up for Giannoulis but is McCallum returning from loan enough for that now? Gilmour would be more of a replacement for Skipp than Tettey, so will we need an experienced DM or are McLean, Sørensen and Rupp and possibly Sitti seen as sufficient midfield options now? Personally, I'd like to see an experienced DM like Delaney above. That said, I don't think we're far off being stronger than last season.
The Pinkun has been saying how highly the coaching staff rate Sørensen, so I don't think a loan is likely. He should be well suited to a 'double 6' midfield where a specialist DM is less necessary. DF definitely said that Sørensen was back to being a midfielder after Giannoulis joined so we'll have to see what happens.
Surely McLean & Rupp are experienced midfielders. With Hanley & Gibson on the pitch I don't get this experienced argument. I'd rather have Skipp or Gilmore on the pitch than a less able DM just because their experienced and we can't afford experience DM's who are as good as Skipp or Gilmore. If the players good enough they should play and get experience.
I hope so, I think he looks to have a lot of talent and it would be great if he could get a lot more minutes this season
