I reckon we have a better chance with Sanderson as well if he stays. They seemed to be a proper partnership.

The more I think about it the more I think he should be captain and I would really push that with him. He is such a good pro on and off the pitch. Power tried to be a leader often hy dishing out bollockings. That should be a last resort in any leader really. Lead by example and show absolute commitment in matches and training. I would be 100% behind him in the job.

Decent squad player who can play all over the park and we’d be a lot better off with O’Nien signing a new deal rather than leaving for free but he’s ridiculously overrated IMO. Why are people still talking about him playing CB? Absolute nonsense. He was okay there, started well but it turned poor in the end. Sanderson made him look decent for me. I’m absolutely staggered at people suggesting he should be captain mind…

Why's that?

Why's that?
My opinion is he isn’t good enough to be playing most games and being captain of the team. We need to sign a leader - similar to Hull City last season coming down to L1 and signing Richie Smallwood and making him captain instantly. O’Nien just isn’t that leader IMO. I’d be happy for him to sign up again but certainly not as captain.

Don't agree but fair enough :emoticon-0148-yes:

He's not the most vocal player currently but I think that if he was given the responsibility he'd quickly grow into it. He's got all the attributes I want in a captain apart from the gob maybe.

Fair play. For what it’s worth, I’m not daft and know if we had 11 players every week with the commitment of O’Nien we’d be in a higher league now - no doubt about it. We need to sign some quality to go alongside him.

The optimist in me is delighted. The pessimist is wondering why he’s not getting match fitness today if he’s staying.

He is always in top shape with his fitness, so I'm not concerned that he hasn't made the game today.

This is a real boost for the club and fans

yeh completely agree. My pessimism was more around whether it’s true rather than worried about his fitness itself.

hopefully we get clarity this evening?!? Buzzing if true. Make him captain

Not to be too much of a pessimist but didn't Maja tell Jack Ross he was staying while his agent was lining his pockets?
