Brentford signed Ivan Toney from League One Peterborough.

If we follow their example we should be signing Charlie Wyke from Sunderland - 26 goals for the season. I know nothing about him whatsoever!

Or Adam Armstrong of Blackburn. Scored 28 goals this season. That's more than Pukki but less than Toney.

Or Paul Mullin of Cambridge United. Top scorer in League 2 by a country mile - 32 goals. They got promoted but maybe he fancies the Championship.

Reports in France yesterday evening said that the Swans are closing in on a move for Thomas Henry, a striker formerly of Nantes.

Henry scored 21 goals in 31 appearances and was the second leading scorer in the Belgian League last season and was targetted by the Swans as the ideal replacement for Andre Ayew.

The reports suggest that talks are still ongoing between the club and player but it is suggested that a move to South Wales is getting closer.

Presumably, he meets the Post-Brexit criteria for getting a ‘work permit’:

Last season's stats look impressive but prior not so but let's see

Cardiff City and Swansea City are both reportedly hoping to take Neco Williams to South Wales this summer, but face competition from a clutch of clubs.

The Liverpool youngster has emerged as one of Welsh football's brightest young talents, and is expected to play an important role for his country at the upcoming European Championships.

He is also highly rated by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and, despite only playing half a dozen Premier League games for the Reds, his progress has seemingly caught the eye of several admirers.

If its the same scenario as Wilson going to the turds then I'm guessing we'd be out of the running , expensive loan deals are all well and good but who benefits in the end

It really depends on who is in the Manager’s chair.

I honestly believe that Cooper knows deep down that, given the financial constraints, he / his reputation has peaked and that come Christmas he may, at best, be managing a mid-table team.

I think if he’s offered something, he will take it.

Yep. It's a bit of a poisoned chalice in many ways. No money for signings and have to be savvy in the loan market. We've (Cooper's) been fortunate in that respect but who can build anything with so much instability. I think managers are looking at us as somewhere short term to make a name and then move on.

Swansea City will travel to Forest Green Rovers for a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, July 28 (7pm).

The Swans face the League Two side at The New Lawn as Steve Cooper’s side prepare for the 2021-22 Championship campaign.

Forest Green finished sixth in the fourth tier last season before losing to Newport County in the play-off semi-finals, and have recently appointed former Wolves and Aston Villa defender Rob Edwards as their new head coach.

Further details for this game, and forthcoming pre-season friendly fixtures, will be announced in due course.

Swansea City will face Plymouth Argyle in a pre-season friendly as part of preparations for the 2021-22 Championship campaign.

The game will take place at Home Park against the League One Pilgrims on Tuesday, July 20 with a kick-off time of 7pm.

Plymouth finished 18th in League One during the 2020-21 campaign, under the guidance of former Bury boss Ryan Lowe.

The clubs have not met in a competitive first-team fixture since a Championship game in February 2010.

Wales international Josh Sheehan is the latest player to join Bolton Wanderers ahead of our forthcoming Sky Bet League One campaign after signing a two-year deal, subject to international clearance.

The 26 year-old midfielder played 53 games in all competitions for Newport County last season, including the Exiles’ two victories against Wanderers.

Having started his career with Swansea City, he joined Yeovil Town on loan before signing for Newport in 2016.

During his four-year tenure at Rodney Parade he made 179 appearances, finding the net on 15 occasions.

Deal done!

Swansea City has agreed the transfer of Kyle Joseph from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, subject to EFL, FAW and FA clearance.

The 19-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at the Liberty Stadium and will become the Swans first signing ahead of the 2021-22 Championship campaign.

Striker Joseph has been with the Latics since the age of 13, and scored five goals in 20 appearances in all competitions last term, including a winner against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and a hat-trick against Burton.

The previous campaign he was named Wigan’s academy player of the season after netting 23 goals in all competitions for their under-18 side.

Joseph has also represented Scotland at under-18 and under-19 level.

I see a numptie in Facebook all ready skating the signing because he was linked with Spurs, Celtic et al, and he couldn’t be that good because he hadn’t signed for them.

**** me, the lads not kicked a ball yet. I wonder if said numptie was Liberty. ;) :)
Youth is the way to go, if you read some Celtics fans opinions on Ayew , you'd think they Glasgow's equivalent of Real Madrid .

I totally agree with you mate. I said weeks ago, that I would be happy to have a young youthful hungry squad, than for go a promotion push this season. We then go full tilt at it the following season, with these youngsters having a full season under their belt.

According to Voetbal International, PSV Eindhoven have received an offer of €2 million for the 21-year-old striker, who scored once in 11 league appearances for the club last season.

Piroe was highly regarded in the PSV academy but has yet to make his breakthrough. He had an unsuccessful loan with Sparta Rotterdam during the 2019/20 season and has mostly played for Jong PSV in the Keueken Kampioen Divisie.

Swansea City finished fourth in the Championship and narrowly missed out on promotion in the end of season playoffs.
Any news on Cooper yet?

Another waste of a signing that most of us knew was a waste of a signing when we signed him.....

He must have been good we signed him but obviously Coops and him had a fall out.....
