Over the season it seems to me we are not mounting any quick/counter attacks where we could catch the opposition on the hop. As usual it happened a few times yesterday and, although i rate Gordon even though he is inconsistent, he seems incapable of distributing a quick ball. We could at least make the opposition think about how many players to push up into our half when they are attacking, and with the potential speed of our front players the tactic could be fruitful. Blackpool profited from counter attacking at the SOL, and even if they didnt score, our defence couldnt afford to lose concentration. Also when we are attacking we have a habit of putting the foot on the ball,or passing back when we have the possibility of going forward. Its as though the midfielders run out of air.At least Bramble looks for a forward ball Personal thought, did Anton deserve to be dropped yesterday? Despite this i think progress is being made, but we need to get the defence back on track
I think you're wrang about Gordon anarl mind. The lad has some faults, but i don't think quick distribution is one of them. He got shot of the ball alright for me late on yesterday, notably one at the death where he bowled it out underarm like a game of pensioners bowls, except a lot quicker and straight up the middle of the pitch.
Chelsea away? No , Chelsea gave you that one, they lost also to wolves and birmingham in that bad run
Henderson was the only one looking for the ball at that point hence thru the middle. Full backs weren't looking for the ball at that point and didn't for most of the game. We've never really broken with pace which has always been disappointing. Also feel we shouldn't bring everyone back to defernd set pieces. Steed and Sess should stay up front. They're too short to do any good in the air. We'd be better off if they stayed up for the counter.
