That's probably true. My only caveat would be that a lot of the things coming out from Downing St was about other places going green as well. Then suddenly they surprised everyone by saying not only were there not going to be anymore green countries but also that portugal was now amber. That's my only reason for giving the benefit of the doubt but the cynic in me thinks the truth is nearer to what you've said.

I'm surprised by the government's cautious approach given their past, but I welcome it tbh. If it means a few extra days or weeks I'm willing to say ok, given I'm pretty much out doing what I want with only minor restrictions. And the kids are also getting out thank fck... lazy gits!

    I know you don't, mate <ok>

I remember that, too. Campaigning side by side with his 'mate' until he thought Boris was going to get what he has always wanted. Justice was done in the end.

There’s another case that’s gone the same way, against Hancock.

There’s a whole raft of other cases in the queue.

well can't say i've paud too much attention to foreign travel but i thought the whole purpose of the traffic light system was to ensure people got enough warning so holidaymakers already there were fine on existing arrangements could get home without extra expense and people waiting to go had enough time to change their arrangements .
So how come the first time its used people got a few days warning ?

The cynic in me says this is what happened...

UEFA knew no one could travel to Turkey. The problem being, UEFA needed to look after all their corporate friends at the Final, I heard a figure of 3,000 of them, not sure how true that figure is, but my guess it equates to a lot of money.

Message by some means gets to Boris - look we can't give the UK the Final, because we need to ensure all our corporate buddies can gain access to the Final, so how about Portugal, not far from the UK, you just put a little green light on it for a few weeks. That way fans gain access to the final as well has all our rich corporate friends.

    The rest we know.

We wouldn't host it as UEFA insisted the thousands of UEFA delegates could not be made to quarantine so we told them to forget it .

Yup, which is what I was alluding to, when I said their corporate buddies wouldn't be able to gain access to the final ie at Wembley. Boris and Co would have known that, and Portugal was a good alternative, especially if Boris gave it the green light, which....he did!

I'll think there'll still be an easing of sorts but it won't be the end of legal limits on social contact as mentioned previously.

The one that has kept nightclubs closed.
The one that has made international travel solely for the wealthy.
The one that has stopped people getting married.
The one that has stopped family members from giving loved ones a decent goodbye.

    Do you want anymore mate?

International travel restrictions will be governed by how other nations are dealing with the virus
    People can get married
There’s no restrictions on funerals anymore.
Nightclubs then, is that it? Hardly constitutes a lockdown does it?

So yeah give me some more, as they’re piss weak mate.

Maximum of 30 at a wedding. I reckon that has impacted a large amount of weddings.
No restrictions on funerals? Yes there is.
International travel. A lot of countries would welcome us with open arms. It’s our government stopping us.
Nightclubs. Suppose it’s piss weak unless you actually work in one or enjoy going to them.

None of that constitutes a lockdown though, which was my point, it’s merely the last remnants of restrictions, that’ll hopefully end on the 21st. Life is virtually back to normal, shops, pubs, restaurants, cinemas, sports centres etc, the only limits left are on capacity.

I’m not defending the Govt with regards to the foreign travel issue, which has been a **** up in parts, especially the Portugal thing, but it’s common sense to block travel to certain countries at present given their infection rates.
