I read the other day they have won their last seven or eight games to nil. Serious contenders.

    Euro Predictions 2021

Take a look at the Telegraph Group Result Predictor that they have on their website and tell me who you have as the teams to qualify & progress through the tournament...

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/euro-2020-wallchart-predictor

Basically England play the 2nd placed team in the France, Portugal & Germany group should they top it, which I have, so that's gonna prove to be a real test for Southgate and his bunch of merry men should that happen...!!!

    Round of 16:

    Italy v Austria
    Turkey v Denmark
    Belgium v Switzerland
    Holland v Portugal
    Croatia v Spain
    France v Ukraine
    Poland v Russia
    England v Germany

    Quarters:
    Spain v France
    Belgium v Italy
    Holland v Denmark
    Poland v England

    Semis:
    France v Belgium
    Holland v England

    Final
    France v Holland

    Winners France

It all depends on that 'Group of Death' that has the French, Portuguese & Germans in it, plus us beating one of them in the last 16, but it's not a given is it...!! <ok> <cheers>

Also, predicting the best of the 3rd placed teams is a bit of a nightmare as well... Some bloomin set up we have picking them...!!

Amazingly only 8 of the 24 teams will be knocked out at the group stage. It would have been all about money without Covid <laugh>

I'd be happy with that far. I think they'll get out of the group possibly as winners, although i wouldn't put my mortgage on that. Croatia area a decent side. Then that's the end of the journey. Eliminated first knockout game

Fantastic start to the tournament with the fans providing a great atmosphere. How refreshing was it to see Italy pressing for further goals rather than just defending the lead? Good stuff.

Royal Ascot and loads of footy matches next week - thank goodness for home office <party>

I think Wales can have a decent tournament again with Bale leading from the front. I've gone for 1-1 today, I think the bookies have it wrong with Switzerland around EVS. They are no great shakes.

Come away, Oddy. The game was crap and Italy lacked thrust and strike power. Their tip tapping around the box was laughable against a terrible Turkish side. Their defence was never challenged and they’ll soon go out against a decent side.
As for “home office,” I always had the impression you were permanently resident ‘on the sofa.’ <laugh>
Otherwise, kind regards, stay safe, and cut out the dancing!

Maybe it comes from watching hardly any football during COVID due to the lack of atmosphere Tam (I find it like watching a training session when there are no fans) but I really enjoyed the match. The Turks had 10 men behind the ball and the Italians did well to create as much as they did. They are on a good roll and can go far in the tournament I reckon. Who do you fancy to win it? (Tip: Germany is the wrong answer <laugh>)

Hi Oddy. Glad you’re your usual ebullient self.
I really haven’t got a clue who will win this tournament- it’s so open.
I really fancied Croatia in the last World Cup but they were robbed by a terrible VAR penalty ruling. Yet , if they’re anywhere near their 2018 ability, then England had better watch out. Modric is a tremendous player and arguably the best midfielder in the world.
France will be most people’s choice, and Benzema is like old wine- matured and improved with age. He could be the top scorer if France go all the way to the final.
Portugal amazed me last time. I didn’t give them a chance. With Ronaldo, you never know- he has incredible belief and can change any game.
Until I see all teams play, I’ve no idea since I don’t watch their pre-tournament matches.
Let’s just hope we have entertaining games. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Things looking a lot rosier than 24 hours ago. Eriksen on the mend, England opened with a relatively comfortable, but somewhat laboured (blame the heat?) victory over Croatia and Austria v North Macedonia is unexpectedly entertaining <ok>

Well the opening games of the 2020/21 tournament, (can they just say the 2021 tournament as we all know it got postponed from last year, but were playing it in this year now...!!) and it's been surprisingly very open, well apart from the England/Croatia game.

The Italians, despite playing a deep sitting Turkish side took their home advantage and put in a good performance, as did the Swiss against the Welsh but they couldn't get the 2nd they needed so let them back in. Sets that group up nicely for the remaining games...

Belgium looked strong but to be fair our local village team could have run rings around the labored Ruski's so bad was their game. The bookies 2nd group favourites Denmark had the worst sporting event to happen to them after Erikson collapsed on the pitch and got CPR, I really do feel sorry for those players going forward in the tournament now, though Finland have put themselves in a great position to go through to the knock-out stages. Fingers crossed that they can do Erikson proud and get a win to help him on his road to recovery...

Game of the tournament so far is undoubtingly the Dutch beating a Shevchenko's Ukrainian side 3-2 after both sides could have been 5-4 after the opening 15minutes of the game. I have them as the winners in my betting but after watching them last night they will either do a Kevin Keegan Newcastle job and entertain us each and every time they take the pitch only to let us all down...!! The surprise package was the North Macedonians giving the Austrians a right ole scare and the 3-1 score line definitely dosn't reflect the closeness of the teams... Could be a good group to watch going forward...

As for our beloved England side, they won, that's about it. I don't see a real cutting edge of a side and the fact we are full of midget gems running around the oppo's ankles all match, passing too and fro to one another dosn't feel me with great hope that we will go on to win it. Croatia looked a bit one dimensional to me, not the team who swept us away the last time we met in the World Cup a few years back... Saying that, is was bloomin hot, they had their toughest match up first in the competition so things can and must improve. Scotland start their campaign in a wee while so this group is still very much open to them...!!

The rest have yet to play but from what weve seen so far it could be a good tournament to watch...!!
