Yeah, he's still backing both sides on this one at the moment - supporting the players but also the fans that boo them.

If footballers want to take the knee, that's fine this is a free country ..

But if they take the knee for equality in this country, what are they going to do when they get to Qatar, A country where it's illegal to be gay and women are 2nd class citizens!

Interpretive dance?

Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith has compared the anti-racism gesture to England footballers performing the Nazi salute during a 1938 match against Germany in Berlin. Johnson hasn't gone this far yet, but watch this space.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in a newly surfaced video from 2015 that she and her fellow organizers are “trained Marxists” – making clear their movement’s ideological foundation, according to a report.

Cullors, 36, was the protégé of Eric Mann, former agitator of the Weather Underground domestic terror organization, and spent years absorbing the Marxist-Leninist ideology that shaped her worldview, Breitbart News reported.

“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers,” she said, referring to BLM co-founder Alicia Garza.

“We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” Cullors added in the interview with Jared Ball of The Real News Network.

While promoting her book “When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir” in 2018, Cullors described her introduction to and support for Marxist ideology.

She described to Democracy Now! how she became a trained organizer with the Labor/Community Strategy Center, which she called her “first political home” under the mentorship of Mann, its director, Breitbart reported.

The center, which describes its philosophy as “an urban experiment,” uses grassroots organization to “focus on Black and Latino communities with deep historical ties to the long history of anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, pro-communist resistance to the US empire,” according to the outlet.

It also expresses its appreciation for the work of the US Communist Party, “especially Black communists,” as well as its support for “the great work of the Black Panther Party, the American Indian Movement, Young Lords, Brown Berets, and the great revolutionary rainbow experiments of the 1970s,” Breitbart reported.

In 1968, Mann was a coordinator for Students for a Democratic Society, from which a more radical wing –- the Weather Underground — was splintered the following year.

It was led by Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, who called for “direct action” over civil disobedience, seeking the overthrow of the US government. In 1969, the FBI classified the group as a domestic terror organization.

Mann was eventually charged with assault and battery, disturbing the peace, damaging property, defacing a building and disturbing a public assembly, for which he spent 18 months behind bars.

The England team that are currently getting booed by the their own 'fans' have stated explicitly that their gesture is absolutely not political, but purely anti-racist. There can be no more 'Marxism' nonsense. Those booing the gesture are by default supporting racism.

Taking the knee is closely connected with the BLM political movement in the US. When it has such obvious connections, anything the England players say mean as little as if the England players in the 1930's, who gave Nazi salutes, tried to explain theirs was simply a gesture of international solidarity.

It doesn't wash.

The booing is not racist. If the England team found its own way to communicate their adversity to racism, they would have support of the vast majority of the fans.

Can’t tell the difference between a social movement and a political organisation that bear the same name? Black Lives Matter/ black lives matter send you into a neurotic fury? But can cope with Conservative vs conservative?

Believe that a sportsman or woman kneeling down to draw attention to inequality based on skin colour is a sign that civilisation is crumbling?

Defend any and all who exercised their ‘democratic right’ to vote for Brexit, but anyone who exercises the same right to vote for Sadiq Khan sends your blood pressure through the roof?

Genuinely believe that any problem facing the government is the fault of a political party that hasn’t been in office for over a decade, a multinational organisation that this country has left, and the millions of ‘enemies within’ who really don’t love their country enough?

Really take offence by anything ‘woke’ (which is just about anything you don’t like or understand) and completely fail to see the irony in this?

Then you have Gammon Paradox Syndrome. I’m afraid there is no known cure.

That made me chuckle

I'm compiling a Gammon checklist...

Meghan Markle
Taking the Knee
Ollie Robinson
Sadiq Khan
A black Anne Boleyn
Students taking down a picture of The Queen
Statues
Flags
Brexit

It seems to me that if you know someone's opinion on any of the above, you can confidently predict it on all of them.

I can just about understand the anger some of these provoke, utterly ****ing mental as they are, but who is sitting there bothered by a black Anne Boleyn or students choosing to remove a portrait?

I agree all that bending of the knee is BS. They have politicised it. Funny I remember the fuss about having a poppy on the shirt and the usual liberal voices said it was political?
It's just this months colour orange. We have to keep all the yoghurt knitters happy.

Whether you think its bullshit or not, why does it bother you?

I don't have a problem with a black Anne Boleyn if the actress convinces viewers. Simply, that the same people that insisted on it are the ones that scream "cultural appropriation" when a kid pulls on a red indian outfit.

Both Robert Jenrick and Gavin Williamson have spoken out about the Oxford students' decision to remove the portrait. Utterly irrelevant of course, but it takes attention away from the government's paltry education catch-up funding and fires up their gammon base. Look over there!
