I’m on immune suppressants for a long standing condition mate, so that affects the level of protection the vaccine gives me. Could have been far, far worse though, my survival odds had I caught it a year ago weren’t far off a coin toss.

Evidence has now emerged in Vietnam of a "hybrid" uk/indian variety of the corona virus

We just keep doing the same stupid things by allowing travel. The Indian variant will overtake the uk variant shortly and become dominant and the thing just keeps getting more and more virulent.

We are actually down to pfizer and moderna as effective vaccines and we have assumed wrongly that one jab will do and now that's shown to be completely wrong.

Two jabs of az is now maybe 50% effective, maybe. Pfizer is down to 80% effective with 2 jabs.

We are wasting the vaccines by not allowing the required time to suppress the virus.

We will see masses of holiday makers through august and then people will turn round and blame schools for spreading another massive wave in september

2021 will go down as the year vaccines failed. The main thing now is to hope pfizer get a new version out quickly but its mutating so quick it's going to be tough.

There are signs the UK is in the early stages of a third wave of coronavirus infections, a scientist advising the government has said.

Prof Ravi Gupta, from the University of Cambridge, said although new cases were "relatively low" the Indian variant had caused "exponential growth".

He said ending Covid restrictions in England on 21 June should be postponed.

Environment Secretary George Eustice said the government could not rule out a delay to the planned lockdown easing.

On Sunday, the UK reported more than 3,000 new Covid infections for a fifth successive day.

one would hope that new vaccines are already in development. by the time everyone parties all summer and have their jollies we might as well admit that we ned new ones

Greater Manchester and Lancashire are asked nicely as far as possible to limit movement.

This is level 1.24 on the Boris I refuse to have anything called a lock down scale of lock down.

Been nearly a year and a half since I was last in the UK and I can only see it getting longer. Pretty much given up hope for the summer now.

There was a while a month or two back where the UK was green and there were no restrictions on then coming here. Problem was, people couldn't come from the UK without a valid reason. Then the Indian (Delta?) variant reared it's head and the restrictions were ramped up again.

To be fair, we could come to the UK I think, but quarantining and spending over £200 per person on mandatory tests, plus quarantining when we get back, is somewhat prohibitive.

Yet further confirmation of the level of ******s and irresponsible idiots that seem to make up the majority of the UK population, it's been coming and it's going to get worse again, words fail me really, just sick of people's attitudes and people generally who don't or refuse to get it

I don't know why you'd want to come here, or why anybody who isn't currently trapped here would want to come here, it's a lost country, I actually despair and have mostly contempt for the majority of the population these days. Maybe it's alright for a short break but I don't see why you'd come here when you could go to a Greek island or somewhere else

It's not really the new variants fault mate, it's the ****tards and morons that live in this place who are either so thick as pigshit that they still don't get it after a year and a half, or are so dismissive of everything and lacking any notion to behave responsibly and reasonably for the situation and essentially just don't give a flying f about anything other than their bullshit plugged in lives of pop/tabloid culture, social media, going out getting pissed up or taking drugs, fast food and takeaways which they throw all over the roads and streets, and high street shopping. Unfortunately it's these people who are stopping good people like yourself from living their lives and doing things they will enjoy appropriate to the circumstances.
