Have reading the four tweets, i could not really understand the two "sexist" comments and they probably only make sense if you are a teenaged gamer. The post about Muslims , however, was sufficient for him to deserve the ban in my opinion. He has been set up but he was stupid enough to make the remarks in the first place.

Got to say that I agree with Michael Carbarry's comments. It is not a matter of "the PC brigade getting their way" but I think simply a matter of not being an idiot and have respect for your colleagues and the community in general. You wonder what his colleague like Archer or Ali might feel. The ban should stick. Why is it that it is always white people always get caught out making offensive and racist tweets?

Nice one Ian. Chuck some agism in there to make your point.

The last question is laughable as well <laugh>

I’ve seen the tweets, there are 14 I’ve been sent rather than the 4 Ian has pointed out.

Some of them are a bit cringe but I wouldn’t call them ban worthy, more a teenage boy being a teenage boy. The others are worse and can see why the ECB had to act.

Reports this morning that another player has had some tweets dug out from when they were younger but the player hasn’t been named yet.

A decade ago stuff like Twitter was new and I’m sure (especially young people) wouldn’t have thought about the ramifications of putting something on there. I know someone who ended up not getting a job because of videos on Facebook that emerged during the interview stage from a decade ago. You would think that teenagers now a days might be a little bit more aware of what they are putting on social media

So is it 4 or 14 (StMag) tweets or more on other social media disgraces? Would I be correct in surmising those that would pass the tweets off as youthful naivety would be the ones booing the knee? No offence intended.
Scale of the problem "Hate and abuse on social media" I've had abuse and threats of violence from the white alt right for my multi-racial views, pro EU stance and mixed marriage.

Imo you have to take into account the amount of time that has passed and the good behaviour since. But he was 18 which is old enough and he was stupid enough not to cleanse his social media before coming into the public eye. 1 test series ban and some ‘community service’ work for the ECB I’d say.

The new one is allegedly from a player when they were under 16, that’s a different kettle of fish as the person involved wasn’t an adult at the time. They should tell these players that they have a responsibility to delete historic stupidity though once they gain some awareness.

I feel the knee has become a political gesture over anything now, but would I boo it? Nope

I dropped off social media due to the hate on there, I’m against it. So many morons post **** on their without any form of consequence… but we’re talking 30/40 year olds here, not kids.

18 year olds are kids mentally at the end of the day. I know for a fact I said stupid / offensive **** to my friends back when I was younger, but I didn’t put it in writing. Luckily context and tone can be noted when saying it in person.

What Robinson said was dumb, immature etc… but was it hateful?

I don’t think deleting is the way forward, learning from it is.

Casting my eyes over the t20 odds, like I do every year (one of my favourite things about our t20, unlike other competitions/sports, is how open it is):

Notts 6/1
Surrey 13/2
Lancs 8/1
Somerset 9/1
Hants 10/1
Sussex 10/1
Yorks 10/1
Essex 12/1
Kent 12/1
Middlesex 12/1
Warks 12/1
Worcs 14/1
Gloucs 16/1
Nothants 20/1
Derby 25/1
Durham 25/1
Leicester 25/1
Glamorgan 33/1

Whilst Lancs and Surrey are my two favourites, the price which jumps out at me is Gloucs' 16/1. They're better than that, and I see them as more likely winners than the likes of Kent, Middlesex or Warks.

Billings and Crawley with England. Kuhn injured. Ahmad in quarantine. Amir pulling out, and his replacement Milne not yet over here. Qayyum retired.

Granted, Kent will still have the likes of Denly, DBD and our regular nemesis Blake, but there could barely be a better time to play them.

So I would think our line up tomorrow will be:

Short, Vince, Alsop, Northeast, Dawson, Fuller, McManus, Wood, Abbott, Crane, Wheal.

I suppose Holland could be in instead of Wheal. Donald for McManus would really have given us a really strong batting line up. Having said that, Short and Vince could really do damage as an opening pair. Also not convinced with our seam attack. Wood we can rely on to give us 4 good overs most games but T20 isn't Abbott's strongest format. Vince will need to be very astute with his bowling changes.

My expectation is Holland for Wheal. But either way, I'm pleased that it is Wheal (and Currie) in the squad rather than Stevenson. That suggests that when it comes to Abbott stepping aside for a few games in the middle, it won't be Stevenson who is next in line to replace him!

You could argue he has learnt from it by not repeating for the last 8 years!?
You’d think so, but it is never possible to get forgiveness no matter what age you were when you sinned. Eternal damnation is the modern way. I defy anyone to say they have never said something naughty when young or when attempting humour....luckily most of us did this before the internet.
