He held our defence together from CB after VVD got injured, or real downturn in form came after we lost him.
Terrible is a relative term.
Clearly gomez is not terrible at rb.
We will have to "make do".
Williams cant even defend so if a loan is required to help him along in the long term then we need to suck it up.

No thanks for Joe at RB. It would be a massive waste of his ability and plus he won't be able to offer anything going forward. Not only that, it will put his body under more stress with the expectation of him having to push higher and then cover large ground in behind. Fabinho played at right back so he could be an option but again, we really shouldn't be in a position where we have to do that.
I do think we definitely need cover for Trent but he along with Robbo have been massively overplayed in recent seasons. I reckon Kostas will get more of a look in next season once we have a more settled defence.
Elseid Hysaj of Napoli is available on a free I believe and he would be an experienced option who can play on both flanks.

Sure if you want to play for and just buy buy buy.
Neco williams is either good enough to develop or is not. He has to play to show it.
Again it's either 5 games or 30 games a season as a reserve full back. Nobody knows which.
We do know as it stands neco williams is a very naive defender and a player who is head down type of runner and crosser.
This isn't enough so either he develops in which case we would have a free transfer in his way the following season or he doesn't in which case we need a better reserve.
If its for 5 games who seriously give a fcuk about the couple of Cup games and one or two games in the league this would be with milner and gomez filling in.
Finally again 17 foreign players, that's our lot and with one already gone to tsimikas I'd much perfer to get in a good player than another specialist who offers little value.

Neco isn't good enough IMO and the rumours are that he's going out on loan anyway. Trent needs far more rest this season and can't keep running the risk of overplaying players.

So we agree William's needs game time to play and show if he can improve.
Theres not too many opportunities to rest for top top players. 5 games maybe to get a midweek off or around the cups. We need to make do.
Esp if we are wasting a foreign slot on adrian again.

We dont need to change our system, we just need a just to run about, work hard and run in behind. Even harry kane can do that.
I think we will. Having a pure 9 will mean they will occupy more of the central space meaning Mane and Salah may find it harder to find gaps in the box. Bobby plays centrally but he drops very deep.
