No evolution has nothing to do with it that's not the thing I'm highlighting.

Funnily enough I was going to reply saying people are confusing what I'm saying with evolution.

What I'm saying is far simpler.. They weren't athletes then and some of them wouldn't stand upto the demands of today... We can't say which would or wouldn't.

But we can assume that they would, as they were elite level footballers. It’s not like they were fat sweaty bastards is it? State of Adama Traore ffs he’s a unit and about as useful as a second arsehole.

I prefer to not assume

Unless you have proof of there being that something though, doesn't that just make it another "man-made god", and therefore you can't believe in it. Haven't all religions started by someone saying I believe in a higher power and you should all join me in that belief?

Maybe the only difference between Christianity and your belief is that you aren't very good at convincing people (which must be a bit frustrating as you are a teacher) and you haven't put enough thought into developing the concept.

If you can put together a 300 page book with your ideas and rules etc and then tour round the country trying to gather more believers I might consider giving up my current religion and practicing Peacockism.
I doubt the form of recruitment used in the Abrahamic religions would be allowed to go much further than the first mass slaughter for refusing to believe tbh.

You’ve literally assumed that they wouldn’t cut it in modern football. Lol.

No I've not mate I said the players as they were wouldn't be upto it today which is factually far superior in terms of athletic ability.

I'm talking what they actually were not what they might be if they were born on this day and age.

the seperate argument regarding whether they could actually hit the required athletic level came into play after the old farts on here read some home truths

They were not athletes then and there's a good reason why they are now

Nah, you’re not backing it up with anything mate. You’re just saying it because you think it. Show your workings out and have a proper discussion or stfu.

If you think for one second, that Jaap Stam, Dennis Irwin, Paul Ince or Bryan Robson couldn’t cut it in a league full of Jonjos, Jordan’s and Jorginho’s then you’re off your rocker bro.

The 90s isn't that long ago and as I've already said the argument isn't that they couldn't it's that we don't know which could or couldn't.

My argument was that we can only compare what they actually were..

The demands compared to the 70s and 80s are far higher mate and are always increasing.

The 90s was really the last period of time you had fat players

You’re talking as if they were gassing after 3 minutes of running about. The day players like Jordan Henderson stop winning league titles we’ll talk about this again, until then, he’s a slow horse that has managed to not only win everything, but lead the club that won everything.
