Since his good start at Arsenal, Wenger is calling for an England call up for AOC. Since he only left Saints 2 months ago, this raises some questions. Is he good enough? If called up, wold he get played or be a spectator like Walcott. Is it worth searching for players outside of the big time box if someone like AOC is good enough? Is someone else more deserving of a place?
If I was England manager I would play him, and I would put him in central midfield. He is exactly what the England squad has always been lacking - mobility in midfield. He's shown plenty of times that he's good enough. Forget age, it's just a number.
I say why not, get him being a regular for england and hopefully money grabbing daddy will get a deal with that russian club and we'll get a juicy sell on fee
AOC could be a game changer for Arsenal and England. England don't have many stand out players at the moment...Alex can be exciting. Sometimes this is the enthusiasm of youth and can be lost...look at Theo.
Why is that an issue? If England manager thinks he better than the other options available then so be it. At Arsenal it is not just English guys.
I still rate Theo really highly. It's just so frustrating that after so long he still hasn't learnt to cross the ball. He'd do better up front.
It's not that Theo isn't a good player, but it seems that the exciting side of a youngster's game seems to be lost once they play week in, week out in the Prem. Everyone is too afraid to make a mistake.
I think Chamberlain is good enough. As a winger, an attacking midfielder or even an impact sub I think he could be really effective. The key though would be Capello believing in him. Being there purely to keep Wenger happy would be no good at all.
On the england front, I say drop all the old guard like terry, lampard, gerrard etc and bring in the youth such as chamberlain. Give them the euros to gel, get to know each other etc, then we will fly in Brazil in 2014.
I couldn't agree more. Treat Euro 2012 as a warm up for the World Cup and bring on the youngsters. Look how well the Welsh rugby team have done with a predominantly young side.
England are drab at the moment..I'd be all for trying to get youngsters together and target the next world cup.
Thats a fair view, but what if for example one of our best players was being kept out his club team by a French bloke. Eg. Adam Johnson doesn't always start for City but is one of our more creative players and gets in the squad. I am saying it is dangerous to exclude a player who maybe one of the best in his position just because he is being kept out his club side.
