Never really done much to warrant a transfer to us, scored one good goal but with his ability should’ve showed a lot more

A lad who had a load of ability. He never quite hit the heights for me though. One of those that scored the odd great goal or did the odd great thing but at the same time cost us at the other end with his lack of awareness. I also thought he resorted to throwing himself to the ground in his last few games. Shame because he could have made a positive difference but never quite managed it.

I agree it looks unlikely but I don’t think it 100% confirms it. I don’t think I’d have him back anyway unless he was dirt cheap. Didn’t do enough. Talented but didn’t seem to apply it all the time.

Was magnificent against Portsmouth. Thought he would step up and have big game at Wembley but got injured
Since then when we needed players to step up he's been really poor
There is definitely a very good player in there
On his day he has the potential to be brilliant not sure in our current position we can afford his inconsistency

We need a team of 11 who are good with and without the ball in this league. There can be no passengers when we lose it. Jones was a bit of one I thought. Maguire was another of those who had talent as well but it was often like playing with 10 when we lost it. MCgeady on the other hand was as committed without the ball as with it. We need that going forward I think.

Think he let his man go for a goal or two, but in his defence I often thought he was kicked up a height to take him out of game early on... Probably not cut out for 3rd division football

If he had the mindset of Luke Onien he would be in the premier league.

27 years old and done nothing of note in the Scottish leagues or his career in general, we’ll be looking for better

Thought he was a cut above me like. And could've been class if he knew he was coming in on a permanent. But there you go

As said above - the only thing stopping him is between his ears. But if he had that sorted he’d never be playing in league one anyway

    Exactly.

    As Oscar Wilde once said,

"To have one Maguire may be regarded as a misfortune; to have two looks like carelessness."

Aye I thought early days he was a young McGeady but he's actually a young Maguire. Doesn't have McGeady's drive.

Maybe there's a manager who can motivate him to perform every week but it doesn't appear to be Johnson.

I loved Maguire at first. But his flaws are obvious. So sad when you look at the undoubted ability he’s had through his career. That’s the reason he’s been in the lower leagues though I suppose.

Going to watch the cl final with my parents tonight… Arguments abound about this as my Dad rates Maguire!!

Well so do you, Marcus, as you've said, but his flaws (he's a lazy twat) outweigh his attributes, unfortunately :emoticon-0105-wink:

Think I meant more he’d give him a 5 year deal because of what he’s capable of rather than what he actually does!
