Binned off a pregnant Mrs luv at the airport in Lyon to get to a bar in time to watch the Arsenal final. Just about made it for KO.
Years ago the whole country seemed to come to a standstill from around 1pm - 5pm on cup final day, regardless who was playing, party atmosphere, whole families getting together to watch it. Young lads out on the park 10 minutes after it had finished, trying to replicate the goal that won it.
Now no one gives a **** unless it's your team that's in it, something else the FA and TV have managed to **** up between them

Whats the incentive to win it though? Moneys wise it pennies to the bigger clubs. There's no European place for winning it.
CL is where everyone wants to be right? and if the FA Cup doesn't want to become the carling Cup the incentive to win it has to be more appealing imo.
I remember being in beslfast visiting family during the world cup when the argies knocked out England (sol Campbells disallowed goal) I think.....
Seemed like every man and his nan came out into the streets to celebrate England going out

As we all know money as spoilt the game for the vast majority of genuine football fans.
Cup Winner Cup was a great competition, I know it's lost in the world of Champions league, but we've got to stop letting the game get away from the real fans.
Who knows they may be wanting some kind of Super League next to detach us from the game.
it won’t bring back the magic...it just means clubs would take it more seriously from the earlier rounds and squeeze out any chance of early round magic...money isn’t the answer imo. It will still be ****ty Sky commercialised boring coverage with **** like keepy uppies with some Youtuber inbetween some match analysis by some woman footballer meh cba, not what I’m looking for.

Yep, winners should definitely qualify for a CL spot.
Let us not forget though, for lower league punters like @brb and @Commachio , the FA Cup is all about Crawley Town vs Leeds, and such like. That’s it’s real magic tbf.
Dont remember much about the game bar the goals and being dominated for most of it.
I do remember a very young Danny Thompson & Gerrard bossing viera and petit in a league game that year tho.
