That’s right, the FA Cup for those young saplings who don’t remember when this was the biggest day of the football year.

Didn’t see a thread, so I’ll start one. The final of the greatest domestic Cup in the football world deserves it’s own thread imo.

First one I watched, on black n white council telly, featured a bunch of thuggish ****s from Yorkshire vs some poncey thugs from West London; played on a quagmire of a Wembley, and replayed at Old Trafford.

Best Cup Final ever was of course 76. R.I.P. little Bobby Stokes.

Special mentions to cup legends Charlie George, Bob Stokoe, and Trevor Brooking. And Peter Osgood and Mickey Channon. Thanks for the memories guys.

The 86 cup final is one of my earliest footy memories, didn't have a family that followed football but managed to get it on the TV, the mix of blue and red throughout the day struck a note with me families stood side by side in victory and defeat.

Winning it always makes it better like but from then on I've always followed Everton and as long as it's not hindering Liverpool I'll always want them to win.

1968 final was first I remember watching ... Jeff Astel ... next year heartbreak as we lost to 1-0 to Citeh (Neil Young) ... compounded by relegation ... and also Alan Clarke then jumping ship to join Dirty Leeds ... <grr>

A sentiment fully reciprocated by Tobes <whistle>

Bit gay mate.

Grandstand and World of Sport showing the whole build up from 9am. Then the team coach’s journey to Wembley. The brass band playing abide with me and Lizzy Windsor in the royal box.

Bit of the magic has gone from those days

BBC were good at it...went to **** when ITV got it...then lost everything it meant when Sky got in on it.

Back in the day there was an excitement for cup final day even if you’re team wasn’t playing. Now it’s a bit mechanical and meh.

Won’t be watching....come on Lesta

Saturation on the TV is as much to blame .
It was 4 live games a year unless it was the Wirld cup or Euros .

He did World Of Sport not football matches if my memory serves me correct.

great tache tho

Yeah World of Sport.

Frank Bough was on Grandstand. Can’t remember who did the FA cup for ITV ?

The ‘76 Soton final was the first one I can remember being glued to, from 9am. Soton being the massive underdog meant I supported them that day. Been to a few since and there’s nothing quite like a trip to Wembley for the FA Cup final. They can get to **** with the 5.30 KO now like, sacrilege.
