Thought we could recall him if we gave notice by 24th March, seem to remember LJ mentioning this in an interview. Once that date had passed then we could not recall.
Interesting decision but how many games would he have played for us if he had stopped here.
I would recall him. Would be classic Sunderland for him to get promoted with Blackpool. Doesn’t really sit right with me despite the fact he can’t play against us in prospective final .....
Blackpool manager quoted yesterday saying we can't recall him until after the play-offs
Stunning arrogance from Johnson to allow Embleton to join Blackpool......although, at the time Blackpool were 15th in the league
If Blackpool get promoted can anyone see Embleton wanting to come back? Championship v 1st Div? No contest. Yes, we could force him to rejoin us, but would that be wise? Get him back now.

IIRC Embleton signed a contract before going on loan so if Blackpool want him they will have to pay a fee. If we want him to stay, he stays.
At least a little bit if foresight before letting him go on loan.
If Embleton has improved as a result of a run of games in the first team then it's a win win scenario for.me.
I think this close season will see a lot of changes depending upon what league we are in and I am a little more confident that we will get more decisions right than we get wrong with the new set up.

Incoming bid expected shortly...

That article is based upon the Scott Wilson article in the Northern Echo, not saying both are wrong but think it's at best speculation. If the article had been based on reports from the Blackpool end it may have a little more credibility, but time will tell.
Stick by my initial comment that it's a win win for us, we have seen what Embleton can do in this league so can make an informed decision whether to keep him or sell him. I leave that decision to Speakman and his team

He performed well consistently at Blackpool so has proved he can do it in this league, he is everything we lack, young, quick, attacking minded, good with both feet. Be interesting if he does return and is benched or doesnt perform well, hopefully he comes back fit and slots straight into the team, got to give them a good run of games though.

This one could come down to the player. Does he want to come back to the club and League 1. Or is he sat thinking I wasn't good enough to get a chance last year so went out on loan to a team I got plenty of minutes with, played well and ended up getting promoted with who now want me in a higher league so f you!

No idea about the lad, his thoughts on SAFC and what his attitude would be like if he had to stay while wanting to move.

All in sunderlands hands, he’s under contract so I’ll leave it up to speakman and co to make the decision on him

I'm a bit unsure myself on this one. I've seen Blackpool supporters who have mentioned that he only got his place due to injuries to their main midfield players and that his place in the first team was not guaranteed. Yet he did play a significant number of games and others have praised him.
I suppose it could be something like the Sanderson situation initially played out of position and then moved to centre back as a result of injuries and went on to give good performances.
I feel that pre season will be vital for EE he needs to establish himself in the team otherwise he may just fade away

Might be good if we could get £1.5 million for Embleton and buy Sanderson for a similar amount.

I'm not sure Embleton will force his way into the first team here, as crazy as it sounds.

Haven't we got rid of some of our midfield, Power, Scowen, Leadbitter and wide player Jones as well so don't see a problem finding him a spot in a new reorganised midfield we certainly need someone who looks forward rather than sideways and behind.

don't want him to be sold whatsoever. but if its necessary to bring in sanderson for a similar price then its a tough decision.

especially seeing embleton could now say he won't sign a new contract and therefore we'd lose him for a very low tribunal fee next summer.

That is a good point mate. There are a lot of positions up for grabs.

It's just about finding a blend that works.
