So back in the UK now. First day back and was actually called up by the government to check I was self-isolating where I said I was. Ran me through rules and told me if I didnt answer any day during the 10 they might send the Covid police round to check.
So now have to confine going out to before 9am or after 5pm as I cant believe they pay call centre guys overtime. @luvgonzo to confirm whether call centres work shifts.

You guys taking this Chinese study as gospel?

Is the virus that clever that if it started in Europe it made sure it didn't rip through any care homes or cause noticeable deaths until it had been to China first?

Oh and Hartlepool <party>

On the study no however there is evidence that covid was present in western europe in 2019 but not recognised for example the French checked some pneumonia cases and in at lest 1 case found covid present . They or the Italians also found traces of it in water treatment samples from late 2019 though obviously that doesn't show where it started as we also know it was present in Wuhan at the same time and was more prevalent.

How can Labour be outed by the monkey hangers.

like turkeys voting for Xmas. What damage has Comrade Corbyn done to this country

There is evidence that this virus started in several locations at similar times, just that, for whatever reasons, many countries are not looking at other possibilities because it is easier to blame China and not investigate further.
I lived in Wuhan for 5 years and left there to change job in the summer of 2019 and still know lots of people that live there. One of those Chinese friends is adamant that it was brought in from outside and refuses to listen to any other views. At first, I thought he was a little crazy with his thinking, but as time progresses I have listened to his thinking and he does have a point (he believes it was brought into China during the world military games that were staged in Wuhan in October of 2019).
The idea that people were getting ill with pneumonia-like illnesses in late 2019 and any deaths at that time would have been recorded as pneumonia or the flu, and it was only once the outbreak in Wuhan struck that the first cases were recorded, yet there is evidence of people being ill with similar cases across Europe in late 2019.

I do feel the worst of this is now over for the UK, but I do fear that if too many go on their much needed holidays abroad it will be inviting new strains into the country, or imported through visitors coming into the UK.

I came back from Shanghai in Dec 2019 after a week at an exhibition. Was laid up with a bad cold, rough for 2-3 weeks total.

Could also have been that or a variant of covid?

Entirely possible. The fact that at that time nobody was looking in detail at individual cases as this was not known about back then, also possible you could be patient 0 that started all this :emoticon-0100-smile

You don't stand an MP that voted against Brexit 6 times and campaigned for a people's vote in a town that voted 70% in favour of leaving the EU.

Utter madness.

I remember brb making a connection to Italy from before anybody became aware of the virus.

I've just had an idea based on nothing. Maybe the virus did start in Europe and in it's infancy days it may have been pretty much harmless until it had mutated a few times and became dangerous in China. No idea. I doubt we'll ever know definitively, neither.

Corbyn will now be used as a deflection tactic by Labour, I hope not, but Peej has already done so. I said it before the general election, I said it before these local elections, Labour need to stop talking about the opposition and tell us what THEY have to offer, but instead they rely on spin everytime, and fail everytime. I honestly thought Starmer was going to be better than this, in fact he's worse!

Spending his time doing gimmicky pranks like looking at wallpaper isn't what this country needs. I agree, they need to come up with sensible working policies that reunites the party with the working class man and woman you find in the social clubs and pubs up and down the country.

I'm not sure there's way a back for them, now. Momentum are already screaming that they weren't far left enough for Hartlepool. They don't get it.

That's true, that was my theory, all subjective on my part, but I know in Italy, they can trace (or think they can trace) the virus back to as early as September 2019. My feeling without any evidence to support it was the virus mutated into the killer that we now know it as.

I remember personally in 2019 before covid was even identified, I was really poorly, high temp, sore throat, I litterally couldn't even eat and was sipping through a straw. It was probably the second worst virus I had caught in my whole life. I never went to the doctors at any point regarding it.

Once we knew about the outbreak, all I could think of was how poorly I was earlier in 2019. I'm not suggesting in anyway that was covid, my point is merely that people will often suffer illnesses and not burden the doctor, hence why things can go undetected.

I would love to be able to vote Labour. But they have no policy or direction that makes me want to. I don’t want to vote conservative either.

the fact that my local MP was taken to investigate labour and his seat then lost to Con is a reflection of the mess they are in.

He held that seat for 20 years.
Andy Burnham is the man, but very smart that he went to be Manchester mayor until this **** show is sorted.

It looks like politics is being turned upside down.

In wards last contested in 2017, the swing to the Conservatives is 4 points in the most working class areas, while there is a 4 point swing to Labour in the most middle class ones.

These figures illustrate the lack of progress that Labour has made in reconnecting with working class voters since the general election

That’s my work nickname, the one that can be used more than the others <laugh>

never be able to identify where it started, mine could well have been a cold on the back of two long haul flights, jet lag and very late nights partying. Just being in that area makes me think it was Covid, but more than likely not.
