Politicaly you are correct it is not Saudi Arabia but I actually said Saudi which refers to a culture. The difference between UAE and Saudi Arabia is purlely lines drawn on a map by Britain when it was the colonial power in the region. There are many Saudis living in UAE and the culture is shared. I focus on Man City because that was the subject of the discussion and the ownership is the factor that enables their position in football.
Pundits: money is ruining the game Fans: money is ruining the game City win Pundits: City is the benchmark for the rest of the clubs Fans: Fair play to City they deserve it, best team in Europe Some right stupid c*nts watch football
Most of the time the best team is one of the richest ones. Yes City are in a ‘false’ financial position but look at their possible opponents in the final, Chelsea or Real Madrid. Those two sides are just as bad as City imo.
i agree...especially Chelsea and City because they have affected our clubs fortunes every season. without them 2 being doped...other teams hard work would pay dividends. Only reason City get it hard is because we all know if they didn’t win the lottery they would be lining up against Rotherham this weekend. Chelsea at least were flirting with domestic success when Roman came in but City...they haven’t had a sniff of anything in my lifetime...apart from when they got slapped by us in the FA cup final.
Yes and people have been saying money is ruining the game for at least 50 years. They are not wrong as concentrated money ruins most things....that’s why capitalism regulates monopolies. But any major attempt to change that will simply cement the current big clubs into place for ever.
It's true of all the semi-finalists, but not the eliminated quarter-finalists, though you can easily point to problems with some of them, too. Bayern, Dortmund, Liverpool and Porto. No massive cash injections from dubious owners there, as far as I can see. Munich's financial domination of the Bundesliga is a clear issue, though. Don't know enough about Porto or Liga NOS to argue that one.
Are you serious? Do you know anything about Saudi Arabia? Are you suggesting we should accept all cultures and religions without criticism? I suggest you inform yourself properly before you go brandishing cheap comments about racism. You could start by reading The House of Saud by Said K. Aburish. please log in to view this image
What have Saudi got to do with Man City? That’s my point. And yes I agree some people in Saudi and how it’s run are disgusting but you can’t just generalise a whole culture like that and then be annoyed when people say what I said.
I CAN generalise on a culture in fact unless you do you can't discuss it. As most of the people in the Saud culture are powerless it is up to people outside to voice what they cant. I criticise Britain in particular England all the time because ot the ruling culture. It does not mean I am talking about all the individuals that live in Britain. I critisise the USA for many things but praise them for others and so on right around the world. But on this planet filled with humans there are some cultures that are worse than others. Some that deny human rights and persecute people who do not follow their rules or share their values of these cultures the House of Saud is among the worst and Britain includes it as their friend. We know why OIL and MONEY.
this is so damn true. I remember being at the Lane where we almost relegated City, think it was 07 or 08. Then I think the following summer or one after, Shinawatra (sp?) bought them and invested some funds to make them a top half side and then a few years after that the Sheikh bought them from him and the rest is history. As luck goes, they had a massive stroke of it.
And Chelsea were West Ham without the claret before their cash injections. I suspect that those clubs were chosen for a reason, though. Location means a lot, for a start.
To the surprise of...okay, somebody has to be surprised by this point, the Twitter mob are all for Mohammad bin Salman taking over the club all because he has money At a guess, here's a few other people the Twitter mob would be all for taking over the club because they have money Ernst Stavro Blofeld Auric Goldfinger Max Zorin Karl Stromberg Hugo Drax Elliot Carver
Compelled to "like" a non ranty non gobshite Spurlock post (I tried to resist but what could I do ?? ) . My contempt for Citeh is far greater because their financial doping denied Spurs a CL slot for 4 out of 5 consecutive seasons, starting from when Arry had finally raised the team to consistent PL top 4 performance levels.
Chelsea were also flirting with bankruptcy before Uncle Roman showed up, to the point they were telling players not to swap shirts after games and using plastic cutlery in the club canteen As I've said for years, if he decided to buy any other club in Europe, it wouldn't be Leeds who people cite as the example of spending a club into the grave
