From my lounge window on a hill just across the estuary from Dartmouth, I'm looking down at 5 of them now. One moored just off Brixham, two more parked off Paignton, and another two just off Torquay in the distance.
I was in awe of quite a few parked and apparently abandoned off Poole/Bournemouth when I was down that way last July, but this lot all in one glance from my window brings it home. Massive stationary structures manned by skeleton crews waiting to start work again.
Got no time for cruising myself after a borefest around the Med about 20 years ago (never again!), but have to feel some sympathy for the operators and dependent crew, many of whom have been exiled from ther homes for over a year now.
Let's get them working again even if I personally can't stand the thought of another cruise, because many of these guys from Indonesia and the Philippines support their families back home through their work around the world.
......and yes, I have had a few drinks.
