In other news a Spanish judge has issued a preliminary ruling stopping FIFA and UEFA from taking any immediate action against the Super League. The order prohibits FIFA and UEFA and their members from "announcing, threatening to announce or adopting any disciplinary measures " against clubs or its officials or players participating "in the preparation" of the Super League.

Not sure how that works or if it's enforceable.

As in theory, them being banned from setting up a new competition could be classed as anti competitive. However, this all now seems somewhat moot, due to its collapse, and also that them being legally entitled to set up a new league, independent of all other bodies, doesn’t mean that the existing bodies have to both acknowledge it or allow those clubs to continue participating in their own competitions, and they wanted to do both.

The German FA (DFL) stipulate that the members of German clubs retain 50% of the voting shares - plus one share - in the limited companies which operate their teams. "Members" can be anybody who applies to be a member. It's done on a yearly basis. There's an annual membership fee of about €20. Just as an example, this year Bayern has about 290,000 members and Freiburg 25,000 and yes they get to vote, not on everything obviously.

Some of the clubs are 100% members' clubs so they run the club. Others are termed members' clubs but have spun off the men's first team into a separate limited company. Outside investors can buy the limited company but the members' club must retain 50% voting rights plus one.

It depends what you consider as losing. The league would have likely have been deemed to have the right to exist, but that has no impact on the rules of the other competitions that those clubs compete in and what they chose to do in terms of those clubs continued participation.

I think you're right. The full ruling says that FIFA, UEFA and its members - federations clubs and domestic leagues, can't threaten or sanction players and teams which enter the new competition and are not to "exclude" SL clubs and players from "any international or national competitions in which they have already been regularly participating or have the right to participate".

I don't know how they can say that or enforce it. It's very much wait and see isn't it.

It’s an interim ruling pending the actual case hearing (if that ever happens now), given it’s in Spain it has absolutely no relevance in the U.K.

yes plus any reasonable person might wonder how perez knew he would get such a ruling so quickly in a madrid court.

Well yeah, an obvs preplanned preemptive strike, that would fall to pieces under legal challenge, as it conflates competition law with the signed agreements that all of those clubs have with their respective leagues.

So Bobby and Mane convert from 1 in 10 chances and Mo from 1 in 5. For wingers, ok... guess you take a lower conversation rate but as a #9....it’s nowhere near good enough imo. Just out of interest, how does that compare with different forwards?

I agree with others on here that the lack of goals from midfield is also a problem but I also believe that it is indicative of how we play, more so since we lost vvd.

Finally, our threat directly from corners and free kicks is zero. Again, since VvD got injured, we’ve been shocking there too.

In short, the pressure to play every game and finish their opportunities this season is massive, they know if they don’t deliver, nobody else will.....and while Jota relieved that pressure for a while, his injury also knocked us back and he hasn’t been the same since, understandably so.

So, all said and done, one CB is still required (at least) - we should never begin a season with only 3 fit CB’s again. Ever.

This is the thing - shot conversion at around 20% is elite. Harry Kane this season is at 15% compared to 21% last season. Messi is at 13%. Haaland is a freak at 27% though. Mbappe is around 22%.

The point is that these players get lots of goals not because they score from every shot. But it's because they have a high volume of shots every match - and that's the key for us. Creating 3-4 big chances a game is crucial for us and whilst we have missed a lot of these chances, we seem to be back to the usual process of creating high volumes

And I highly doubt that the owners will put their own money in fund transfers. We have to offload wages and raise fees.

I would love to have a big squad where we can use Bobby as a rotation option but due to finances and also that Klopp doesn't like having big squads, it's unlikely.

No chance. We need competition. We cant moan last year that Bobby needs a rest, has no competition etc, and then want to get rid of him when haven’t had that chance to rotate him with that competition yet.

yes his numbers are down but they’ve never been high. He’s there for more than just scoring goals abs getting assists. He drops deep, links play, starts the press. Yes he hasn’t been as good this year in those areas either, but neither has the whole team. He needs a rest and hasn’t got it this year with Jota being out so long in middle of season.

you are mixing your drinks mate.

Kane is playing further from goal. his numbers this season are MORE impressive than previous.

Haaland is a pure goal scorer and a box man. He is actually unimpressive round the park so his numbers reflect where he plays.

Same for messi running about shooting from distance.

However if it were that easy everyone would score goals. the point is not about creating "lots of chances" it is taking the really good ones.

When a forward like mane gets a run on goal and misses the target, fires it right at the keeper etc they are pointless. If he were cutting in and shooting form the edge of the box its a totally different thing. Same for salah. a lot of his shots are doing this. however the critical misses like against real madrid are where forwards earn their money.

The reality is that in a high class game you ought to see maybe one or two of those really big big chances where you either get behind onto keeper of have a cut back to shoot from. we cannot rely on creating lots and lots of shots.

This is reality. when the really big chance comes son and kanes figures shoot up. If son is in on goal he is scoring way way more than 20% of them as he passes it home. Mane and firmino are far more likely go for power or shovel it wide than anything. Salah is the only one with a half decent record for us and even he is not passing it home but just relying on power.

A stat like 20% adds up all sorts of chances but when the chips are down and these guys above are in on goal they rarely miss.
