So Bobby and Mane convert from 1 in 10 chances and Mo from 1 in 5. For wingers, ok... guess you take a lower conversation rate but as a #9....it’s nowhere near good enough imo. Just out of interest, how does that compare with different forwards?
I agree with others on here that the lack of goals from midfield is also a problem but I also believe that it is indicative of how we play, more so since we lost vvd.
Finally, our threat directly from corners and free kicks is zero. Again, since VvD got injured, we’ve been shocking there too.
In short, the pressure to play every game and finish their opportunities this season is massive, they know if they don’t deliver, nobody else will.....and while Jota relieved that pressure for a while, his injury also knocked us back and he hasn’t been the same since, understandably so.
put it all together and hey presto, we are average. My guess is that VvD returns, assuming no complications, and our game steps up a level.
So, all said and done, one CB is still required (at least) - we should never begin a season with only 3 fit CB’s again. Ever.
Fresh legs in midfield are needed. Milner will move on and with the best will in the world, Keita hasn’t stepped up.
That #9 with a better conversion rate than 1 in 10
proper replacements for both Robbo and Trent - how many £50m+ full backs do City have? Guess why!
