Having read up on things, I dont think any domestic punishment will fly.
All 12 clubs should at least be left out of European competition next year.
UEFA invites a certain number of teams per league and the PL chooses which teams those will be, usually they do it based on league placings but they can change it, surely.

But again, without the big teams in it, the CL loses money, so unlikely.

These are multi billion dollar contracts that will have had every break clause imaginable inserted, and there’s probably just as much relief from JP Morgan’s side as well after learning that they were paying for a product that only seemed to be popular among Indian fanboys who probably earn less than £10 a week.

Pretty sure J.P. Morgan weren’t offering that level of bridging loan without security like.

I’m also pretty sure that a project that relied on the founders sticking together won’t have had an easy exit option.

I hope it costs them a bucket load in penalties.

They have breached the rules, that’s a matter of fact. They’ve broken rule L9 by signing up to compete in an unauthorised competition. So they haven’t followed the protocols at all, as they didn’t seek permission.

Tits up was a bit below (although geographically above) the belt, mate ... given the recipient ... and that the offending items are now very likely in an own brand goulash in a budget supermarket <whistle>

Remember 6 months ago with 'Project Big Picture',if they got their way that time then who would sanction them this time, nobody can tell me that the main protagonists that time didn't know about the ESL then,no proof obviously.

Absolutely right. People seem to have forgotten that the same self anointed big 6 wanted to change the voting mechanism and tried adding in a ‘not quite so special 3’ to create a 9 club block vote. Coincidence? My ****ing arse.

Oh and for the record, we got invited in as one of the ‘not quite as special 3’ and told them to go and get ****ed.

Its also the same reason that 6 PL clubs were chosen and only 3 from Spain and Italy.
In the PL, a vote of 15 clubs is needed to expel another team from the league, so the ESL made sure there were only 14 PL clubs left out, so they couldnt make such a vote.

    The dirty bastards.
I mean how the **** else would Spurs have gotten in there otherwise!

It was even more sinister than that. Don’t forget they wanted to reduce the PL to 18 teams, scrap PL involvement in the League Cup, and the big 6 - plus the other 3 would have special voting rights. That would have seen them being able to do as they liked.

There was also the massive carve up of the TV revenue that’d have seen them taking the lions share, and making the disparity between the top and the bottom clubs in the PL absolutely huge.

They were obvs trying to clear the way for the formation of the ESL whilst completely protecting themselves from any consequence. Does anyone think that the rest of the PL has forgotten this, and now put into the clear context of what’s happened this week, what would have happened if they’d have somehow managed to push that through?

Dirty, money grabbing shysters. How can these people ever sit round the same table as the rest of the league ever again?

Exactly, they had plans to carve up both leagues to the benefit of themselves and not the wider football world as bandied about regularly,FS.

Well it goes without saying that a lot of Chief and high level execs will likely have to be replaced after all this.

None of this would have happened if English football didn’t happily sell its soul to allow a Russian gangster to pump his money into a club thus skewing the landscape and starting off the craze of foreign influence and ideas coming into our game.

Community wasnt a word at the forefront of their thoughts then...back then it was more money, more interest, bring it on and since then the media has been lapping up the doped success of this club and City whilst vilifying the ethics of the same people because things got a little too scary yesterday.

it’s a case of...it’s ok to be corrupt guise but not that corrupt that you make it obvious and affect us. The corrupt authorities will just give these clubs a slap on the wrist and we will all get on with it so long as the roubles and dirham are bringing in the best players for the tv companies entertainment and the fans of hopeless clubs will carry on being happy enough with this because it keeps their rival clubs at bay.

That’s why I’m struggling to have true remorse for this act...**** from my club and something I dont agree with but meh...let’s move on.

I didn't feel remorse, sadness or anything like that.

I just thought, as everyone else has, enough is enough. While you can say "well, we shouldn't have let this guy in, this guy do this and the government should never have made the Premier League" its all a pointless exercise. Those things have happened, we can't turn back the clock. But what we can do, what fans did do, is stop it from getting even worse. A clear line was drawn in the sand and that is an important statement.

Pessimistic "well its been poopy for a while now so who cares" doesn't solve a problem, it just burys an axe into the skull of an injured man when he could have been resuscitated.

Mate, I know your a spurs fan, but there is a world of difference between giving a club an advantage by buying them better players, and outright locking 95% of the footballing world outside of your competition to fend for themselves.
If Chelsea had won the last 10 PLs and CLs back to back then I would concede you have a point.

But its like comparing a kid who drinks lucozade before a race to another kid who breaks the legs of the other competitors so they cant race

see this is the lazy bullshit that makes me think....get over it then.

You’re a simple man if you think there is no background that led to these clubs getting cocky enough to attempt it all...but yeh you’re right the past has happened now so let’s pretend it didn’t.

cool crack on with it then...we’ve got a PL game tonight...you enjoy the hypocrisy and selective thinking...I’ve got a new manager to cheer on tonight.
