Portsmouth under Danny Cowley, and Ipswich under Paul Cook possibly both won't even make the L1 playoffs which is a failure on their part given the size of the respective clubs, not that the size of the club is always a good or fair guide as to whether or not they should expect any success.

Ipswich have won only 2 of the 12 games that Cook has been in charge for, he took over when they were right in the mix for a play off place.

If Sunderland under LJ achieve promotion some people on here will credit him with that honour with trumpets, even though he inherited most of his squad, he deserves that regard and I think quite rightly, I wonder if those same individuals will give Nigel Pearson the same high regard and credit for saving our higher league status with the huge injury list and squad of players he inherited.

I think NP's achievment merits the same regard and I hope he becomes our long term manager, he is made of the right stuff.

Given when LJ took over up there, their decent league position at the time, the number of games remaining, and the assets at his disposal, I'm sure there will be many thousands of 'Mackems who will consider not getting automatic promotion to be a failure. Can only imagine their reaction should Sunderland not get promoted via the Play Offs either. Aside from Hull & Peterborough, both or which look nailed on for automatic promotion, the form teams in that league at the moment are Blackpool and Charlton

Last night was a very good result but does not hide the fact that they have gone 5 games without a win only taking 2 points out of 15.
