Yeh its disgusting to be perfectly honest. Even if the owners of these clubs walk away or are blocked, they should be made to sell up as punishment. Our owners have made some might fuk ups with us from ticket hikes to furloughing staff. I dont think there's any coming back from This for them now. They've done us well tbf we're better than we were before they arrived in every way but I think they should sell up and **** off now. This has shown what the are really about.
It's not down to quality im afraid.....marketing has them in the top earning machines category and that is a winner for the greedy
Its interesting to read your thoughts on the prem being created way back. Of course I've never thought of it like that myself being a fan of one of these big six and also cos I probably started watching football properly about 95. Like you say the prem is and isn't a closed shop in such that you can gain promotion into it but that's less and less a thing now as you say because you'd need a big backer in most cases to go from say league 2 to the prem and then to do some damage when in it. This concept of some teams in this ESL not being able to be relegated is just madness. I hope the govt step in and come up with a plan over a number of years where owners have to sell up and fans will own the majority of the clubs they support. Like in Germany. That would be a great outcome I think. Dunno if it's possible tho
Remember the abuse Jack Walker and Blackburn got, they were in the ha'penny place compared to these days.
There is one obvious plus about ESL It has fans of Liverpool , Man Utd , Spurs and presumably Arsenal in full agreement with each other . After that bringing peace to the middle east should be a walk in the park .
I'd realised as time had passed, that the Premier League was born into a new generation of fans, so over time I'd gradually come to accept it. Realising that I'd had my youth and this is what it is for the youth and younger kids now. I always put on the sour face for bantz, if my friends ever mentioned the word 'Prem' but I had accepted there was alot of good come from it. Less football violence and more comfortable stadiums, plus a seat is handy as you get older - that, along with decent football on TV and not having to rely solely on the Sunday afternoon highlights of the 'Big Match' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Match - So it was an acceptance of sorts, but denials at all other times, never admitting some good had come from change.
Football should always try to Improve and evolve I guess, like some rules they bring in are good for the game (no backpass rule) and some are fuking dogshit (var/silver goals/ and those ridiculous penalties where you got 3 touches from the half way line to beat the keeper) I guess the same goes for the leagues too, the prem as you say has brought a lot of improvements to the game in general from safety to coverage and all that. But this idea is fuking dogshit, its not even a debate its that fuking bad and the worldwide moan of outrage and rejection to it from the football World says the game is far from gone for me. Maybe this idea of a breakaway will turn out to be a good thing, it's a step too far and its awoken a beast so like in life sometimes you gotta hit the bottom before you can climb back up. This could cause the outrage needed for change. And a good change so this never happens again.
I wanted to post a similar thing @brb. I sit here with a wry smile listening to pundits and PL clubs comments, who without exception have made an absolute fortune from the PL, whilst watching the rest of the pyramid struggle. When the ITV deal collapsed, I seem to remember many saying it’s only the PL which has any value commercially, so tough, live with it. The very thought that the “elite” now want to screw over there own leagues and fans should surprise no one.
So can someone explain to me about these 5 non founding teams? Where do they come from? So if say lestah dominate the prem after the big six leave they get a chance to play in it?
Yup, when ITV/Ondigital collapsed it left the Gills with £13M debt, because we were redeveloping our ground on the TV money.
Hopefully. Even if this doesn't go ahead, I'd like to see the 6 clubs relegated to be put back in their places.
