This is extra ****ty for Leicester fans, because your club was looking the most likely to start nosing in on the top European competitions, having been in the CL once and competing for top 4 these last couple seasons, and this is the other clubs at the top of the PL slamming their door firmly in Leciester's face...."No thanks, members only!"
I know people say that the rest of the clubs would struggle to survive without the big 6. But if they were cut adrift wouldnt that mean the rest would have less money, meaning their players would have a huge reduction in wages, meaning we might all get back closer to sanity as far as club costs are concerned? Back to pre-Premier League days? I would welcome that.
Neville suggested docking the six teams points, Arsenal could be relegated the **** ****s I'd take 2 Fulham's over one Arsenal
Take a few Scottish teams and a couple of Welsh teams something along the lines of the Pro14 Rugby. Newcastle v Rangers,Celtic v Everton,Leeds v Aberdeen looks good to me
But wouldnt we be doing to the rest of the Scottish teams what the big 6 are doing to the rest of us?
Ive often said over the years that if football was politics then there would have been a revolution by now. The plebs, that is the supporters, have been gradually blinded and brainwashed into this for the past 2-3 decades, that the current climate is normal. Cant think of a better opportunity than now to get the guillotines out (metaphorically speaking)
But teams like Ross County and St Mirren rely on playing Celtic & Rangers 4 times a season to keep the turnstiles open. You would be condemning them to part time players, probably. No for me. Celtic and Rangers are Scottish, they should play in the Scottish League. Berwick should play in the English League. Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham shouldnt have been allowed in the English League either. I wouldnt kick them out, just shouldnt have been allowed to join in the first place.
Just merge the leagues completely. Then all your complaints are solved, English fans would go up for away days in Scotland, it would be a class trip. All the Scottish teams will make more cash and play better teams if they were in a British league.
Isn't this the same thing the 3 leagues outside the premiership have been saying since it's inception?
A British league will be ****. If the ESL goes ahead, whether we like it or not, it will quickly become the pinnacle of football. That's where all the money and top players will be and all the other leagues and competitions will be devalued as a result.
Alternatively, it might become a retirement home for has-beens looking for a massive payout, kinda like a European MLS. Players might want to play and win in their domestic leagues/cups and then join the Super League when they're 37 and get offered £500,000 a week to score 6 goals against Spurs and Arsenal without breaking a sweat.
Not so sure if sanctions are brought in stopping them play for their national sides, down to individuals if that was the case.
