Pretty much yeah.

Of course it depends on circumstance too; I'd feel far more empathy for a young person taken before their time for example.
Sorry but some 20 odd year old killing themselves with drugs means nothing to me, a 99 year old who has served a country all his life deserves a little respect though.

What's drugs got to do with it?

Each to their own mate. I personally couldn't give a **** and find the over the top coverage nauseating but there we go. Feel for those close to him for sure but no more so than anyone else.

Be even worse when the Queen goes. At least we'll get a day off for that though.

I couldn't give a **** about the pomp and ceremony, which it sounds like Phil the Greek was onboard with too tbh.

But Liz has lost her husband, and their children have lost their Dad.

So whoever they were in public, you can't escape that human and family experience.

My old man died aged 49 ... married the old girl when he was 20 ... a long time for a couple to be together and running an off licence for nigh on 16 years meant they spent just about every hour together during that time ...

Liz has had that for near on 70 years .. the void left by his passing must be huge, unimaginable, heart breaking ... my heart goes out to her ... forget that she is a public figure ... she has lost her soul mate and closest friend. <rose>

It's the same for everyone mate when they lose someone.

She was lucky to have had 70 years with him.

If you didn't own a Tele, then you wouldn't have had to watch it.

Over 100.000 complaints to the BBC the day he died.. Cos they couldn't watch Eastenders or Masterchef.

Far from it mate, he knew there was a level of expectancy for the death of someone in his position and planned his own funeral to keep it to a minimum whilst keeping with tradition.

The pomp and ceremony was carried out by a bunch of blokes who decided to sign up and do their bit for Queen and country now that's their own choice but a lot of them will be out there giving their all to look after this rock. Their lives will change and politically they may question what they signed up for in time, the rights and wrongs of it all but for a while they signed up and swore an oath and have their all, their part in the ceremony was duty and cost nothing as they are employed 365.
