Well i did because it was such a big event, but listening to the hymns and other music was torturous. and those poor pall bearers with the coffin on their shoulders for such a long time must have been uncomfortable.
Singing was beautiful TBF, could listen to that all day, fabulous voices.
Don't get me wrong, Im all for the monarchy etc etc but personally and of course it wasn't about me I absolutely hated the singing. However I acknowledge that COVID restrictions are in place. Prefer listening to traditional hymns sang by a full choir and congregation.
Did really feel for Her Majesty when the camera very occassionaly focussed on her with head bowed
That ceremony was not of my tasting (but it wasn't my ceremony!)

It usually happens when a long term spouse dies, or retirement from a long term job, i.e. big changes in life circumstances. I would guesstimate at 12 to 24 months for her unfortunately.
My old man lasted 8 years after me Mam went, basically sat round waiting to die, bit sad really but they'd been around each other so long he didn't want to do anything new once she died. I still don't know what he actually died of, just went into hospital one night and gave up, big relief to all of us really. Still miss him like. Big SAFC fan.
i might be a bit heartless but i find it hard to feel so hard done to as a lot of people seem to feel when someone they never knew or met has passed.
i feel the sadness of a family and of a wife that have just lost someone close but that is all, grief is (imho) a private and personal thing, yet time and time again i see all these RIP messages across f/book etc from people who knew feck all about the person they are wailing for.
the lad did a lot of good i guess but listening to all these anecdotes over the past week has been torture, people wanting to jump in with some 'witty' memory or other just to let the world know that he spoke to them once, as a world leader there had to be a grand ceremony but let the lad rest in peace now eh?

I agree with you for the most part. I find it very strange when people want to jump in on other people's grief. In this case, though, he was more than a simple celebrity. Whether people like it or not, the Royal Family are emblematic of the UK which makes the death of one of them a national event. Particularly in this case where he was a visible representation of our country for so long.
