That Forest team that won the European Cup in 1979 was 'a team' in the truest sense of the word. Of the 16 players in the squad that night only 2 would be considered amongst the real greats of the game -The aforementioned Francis and Shilton. But there were plenty of very good players, but most importantly they were 16 great professionals.

Probably best exemplified by John McGovern - he won the league at both Derby & Forest with Cloughie as well the European cup and didn't win a cap for Scotland!! Can you imagine any player with that CV not being an international player in this era? But McGovern was a player Clough trusted (he even went to Leeds with him). Never spectacular but he did all the things you want a midfielder to do, could tackle, pass with both feet and get around the pitch. For that first European Cup Final he partnered the very similar Ian Bowyer in midfield (Gemmill and O'Neill were on the bench), but the platform that they provided allowed Clough to basically play the front 4 of Francis, Robertson, Woodcock and Birtles.

As for the defence Anderson, Lloyd, Burns and Clark - Anderson was the athlete, the other 3 were three old pros who just did the job of defending and very good at it they were too.

I think it shows the true value of a management team of course Clough & Taylor stand out because they did it with unfashionable teams TWICE that is just amazing. Other clubs have also had success with management teams and often when operating individually they have fallen well short of their success as part of a duo. Some that spring to mind Allison & Mercer with a genuine City team, Fergusson & McClaren at United, Redknapp and ?Bond. Harry always brought his team with him. Then there was the amazing Liverpool Boot Room created by Shankly with his assistants Paisley and Fagan even surpassing his achievements in some ways but all set up by Shankly. Pochettino seems to have his own team around him. The balancing of egos is important as we are seeing at Spurs right now.

Napoli have released a new kit for the rest of the season. No idea what that's about, but it's a bit different:

I'm not usually a fan of eccentric looking shirts, much prefer the basic retro designs but I can't lie I think that's pretty decent.

Except it's from something that Bobby Charlton said and that the club has fully embraced... <whistle>

I’ve never heard it said by anyone outside of a Sky game. Dreadful phrase I don’t think any United fan would use in anything other than an ironic way

Nah, it's just bland and pointless mate.
You seem like a downbeat kind of lot, you come out to a dirge of a record and then continue to sing dirges.

The two tone Liverpool, Liverpoool goes down hill, the "Mo Salah Mo Salah running down the wing" is a copy of our Giggs song yet ours was upbeat and rising, yours is downbeat and kind of fades away to a mumble (probably because most know he doesn't run down the wing)

It must be depressing being among that crowd when they start another song <laugh>
