I remember a few years ago the Mells Daffodil Festival, which always (apart from last year and this year :() takes place on Easter Monday, suffered from an absence of daffodils because they were all under a foot or so of snow.

The beer tent still carried on though.

I went shopping today in Tesco and I was behind a grandfather and his badly-behaved grandson. He has his hands full with the child screaming for sweets, biscuits, all sorts of things.

The granddad is saying in a controlled voice: “Easy, William, we won’t be long . . . easy boy.”

Another outburst and I heard the granddad calmly say : “It’s okay William. Just a couple more minutes and we’ll be out of here. Hang in there, boy.”

At the checkout the little horror is throwing items out of the trolley. Granddad says again in a controlled voice:

“William, William, relax buddy, don’t get upset. We’ll be home in five minutes, stay cool William.”

Well, i was really impressed, so i went outside to where the grandfather is loading his groceries and the boy into the car.

I said to the Grandad “It’s none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don’t know how you did it. That whole time you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his granddad.”

“Thanks,” said the Granddad. “But I am William. The little bastard’s name is Kevin.

Arnold Schwarzenegger goes back to Austria for his Easter Break.

When he returns to California his friend says to him, “Arnie, I hear you went back home to Austria for Easter. How was it?”

To which Arnie replied [in Arnie voice]:
“Oh it was terrible! My father he ruined the Easter Egg hunt, he put all of the eggs in awful places and nobody could find any eggs and quite generally we all had an awful day.”

His colleague then says, “Oh Arnie that’s no good at all, I’m sorry to hear! Does that mean you don’t love easter anymore?”

Arnie [Very important to read in Arnie voice]:

“Oh no of course not – I still love easter, baby.”

*may have been told before ;)

There is a scheme on the Isle of Wight to introduce Sea Eagles to the South. The young birds have been doing wide-ranging sorties to understand their landscape before returning to the Island over the past two years. One adventurous one has just made it to central France...obviously fancied a holibob.
But now it needs to self-isolate. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Anyone watching the Intruder on Channel 5. It doesn't seem to know what it is....some of the cast think they are involved in a tense and promising thriller, whilst others seem to feel they are in a comedy. Some people have stopped watching, but I am mesmerised by its awfulness. Roll on 9 o'clock tonight.

Closed quite a while ago. Such a shame - used to be a great place to visit. We’re hoping they use the site to make Fishlake Meadows Nature Reserve a bit bigger or more accessible

Since I posted that , Mrs J has said they applied for planning permission and that decision is still awaiting a decision . Here's hoping <yikes>
