Could have been worse today. Yes, Portsmouth overtook us. But that's about 8 games in hand played now during this international break, and though Charlton have slipped 3 places we are not out of touch with 6th place. We're just 1 point and some GD adrift. Now it's up to Nigel Adkins to get us winning against our top 6 rivals. I appreciate Thomas Sandgaard won't necessarily be expecting Adkins to pull off a promotion this season, but we are not out of the running yet. I'm certainly hoping and expecting to see an improvement in our form, which will see us giving those teams around us some proper competition. Just to be in the play-off mix after the regular season ends is better than nothing.
Being realistic we're only looking at 6th place. Unless we can muster a minimum of 10 points from our next four games, it is wishful thinking that the play-offs are in our sights. Sadly.
At least Adkins knows what he has to do. And these stories about Bowyer's bullying and unpopularity (even if true) are no longer a factor. The players now need to step up and regain some fire in their bellies.
I have a feeling that the play-offs are achievable. Some of what Bowyer said about the squad seems to have been vindicated but a bit of confidence might go a long way in this division.
I don’t think we’ll overtake Pompey or Blackpool. My hope is that Lincoln continue to implode and we nick 6th place off them
