John Stones has gone full John Stones again then.
How did that go through Pope?

Prickford would have kneecapped him before he could kick the ball.![]()
It’s not the Brenda way.
As much as I hate it it's almost a skill itself these days. Everyone's at it and we're not good enough to constantly outplay teams.

Near the corner flag, as far away from our own goal as possible, yeah that’s sort of the idea. It's not my way ... just pass the ball and keep possession.

No really? ...
Just not for me. Often think fouls should be given for it because opposition players get obstructed in trying to reach the ball ... if that happens elsewhere on the pitch it's a foul ... you are playing the man not the ball.
... but it's all about opinions.![]()
Very clever taking ball into corner.
shield it, win a throw/corner or foul. Not great on the eye, but passing it about in the last few minutes of a game, just need an error from say a Stones to throw it all up.

FYI Fosse, shielding the ball is never a foul, no matter where it happens on the pitch.
Happy to help.
Fine lines Tel ... but if you deliberately step over the ball to stop an opponent getting it, rather than playing it, you will be pulled for it elsewhere on the pitch ... that tends to happen time and again as the melee at the corner flag plays out ...
