Going to agree with The Foss here. There’s a false economy to trying to kill time in the corner.
Taking it to the corner in a tight space is the most likely place to draw in fouls, throw ins and corners and set pieces can waste at least 30-45 seconds each time. Plus it gets the opposition fans in a rage so that’s a bonus.
Near the corner flag, as far away from our own goal as possible, yeah that’s sort of the idea.

Just not for me. Often think fouls should be given for it because opposition players get obstructed in trying to reach the ball ... if that happens elsewhere on the pitch it's a foul ... you are playing the man not the ball.

FYI Fosse, shielding the ball is never a foul, no matter where it happens on the pitch.

Very clever taking ball into corner.
shield it, win a throw/corner or foul. Not great on the eye, but passing it about in the last few minutes of a game, just need an error from say a Stones to throw it all up.

That's not true though. You are allowed to shield the ball on any part of the pitch. You'll often see (canny) DM's shield the ball and use their body to turn the oppo, so that they can then release the ball forwards.
