Love that show, much preferred it to GoT though that's because I've always been interested in Norse history/ mythology. Probably my favourite show tbh, although I don't really watch much TV so basing it on limited viewing. Was never gonna be as good without Ragnar but thought Ivar still done a good job carrying it afterwards. Only criticism I'd have is they could've done more than a few episodes of the Ivar-Alfred war, half or even a full season of them two going at it would've been class. Spinoff series should be decent too though, gonna be focusing on some big people in history.
I agree, it could have ended after ragnars death and I would have enjoyed just as much, maybe more. ivar was good (I love a good baddy) but I felt the whole rus thing was unnecessary, the twin of his dead wife ect all a bit over the top. Some excellent characters in it though throughout. I will Probably watch this all again eventually though as its very good. In comparison to Got I'd say Got just swings it for me for the volume of twists you don't see coming, especially earlier on on the series. The trojan horse thing to get into Paris was great, but I can't think of many more moments where I was like "oh **** son!" Its up there with the big boy shows like the wire and GoT tho
I think the Rus stuff was to mainly give him the character arc, went from pure evil **** (still was in a way ) to a bloke that looked out for and helped raise a young emperor/ king. Agree about the doppleganger ****, that was definitely unnecessary. I thought GoT was good, a lot of the battles were top class. I just ain't too much into fantasy stuff, dragons and snow zombies etc ain't really for me, still enjoyed it though. As Vikings touched on a lot of history I think that's why I preferred it as I'm a bit of a history geek for all the medieval battle ****, lol. The show altered timelines to cram people in and one or two had their stories told differently from true history for dramatic effect but I liked how they put a load of Viking gangsters in a whole show and made it work.
Dark as **** but it has some great dialogue throughout, reminds me of the old black and white (equality right there) detective films.
Released about a month apart from The Usual Suspects. Two superb Kevin Spacey films, even if he is a sex-case.
Watched that a few times and I never got the hype.. I think sometimes if people big things up you end up expecting too much maybe I dunno
Really? I tried it and got about half hour in before thinking it was ****. Maybe I should give it longer?
