One little thing I want to add about using internet sites to ascertain popularity of clubs (and I'm not trying to say that Spurs are actually the biggest club in the World or anything): It surely depends on the quality of the club website and what facilities are available on it. For instance I know that on the Arsenal website, for a small fee, you can watch all the youth team games (maybe some reserve games?) and all their Prem matches in full a day or two after the game.

The Spurs one, by contrast, is rarely visited by me because random sites on Newsnow seem to post news up before the official site does.

I know it's not a huge thing but just wanted to say. To avoid ambiguificationisation.

Totally agree with this, which is why it should be judged on generic sites, not club specific, as I have used above. Tells a very different story to the one that some Liverpool fans believe.

Firstly...I've never seen anyone fail this badly, and resort to so many ridiculous insults at clubs because they simply can't argue for themselves. I am astounded that people like this actually exist.

Secondly...Todays "Word of the Day" is brought to you by Leny, is "ambiguificationisation" - a round of applause for that badboy.

Thirdly...A communal Round of Applause is in order for the sheer ridiculousness of Elpistoleros. You sir, are non-stop entertainment. Pray tell, how many ASBO's do you currently have framed on your wall?

I've not had the misfortune of having to deal with him before hence my ignorance, every board has a div I guess.

To those claiming this is a good idea, are you not bothered about how one sided the Premier League will become ?

So lets ignore the pathetic inter club rivals who simply want to avoid the debate and shout the odds about club sizes.

first if rights are split up it creates additional revenue for some clubs but hurts others. ergo the rich get richer.

second if you think about liverpool's strategy in this it may be the case that the club is thinking that to get it's stadium and bridge the gap it needs to push this through and use the inital wave of money to fund this, then it would hope to have enough steam to bridge the playing gap.

finally thinking on it.... all that will happen is english players will become more expensive, again. the very rich will just get richer and raise fees even more and inevitably some clubs will go to the wall cos they can't afford to keep up.

I am not going to say you are wrong or I even care who is the most supported club but that list has been compiled how? 'According to a major football site' come on which one? 'games watched on the internet' how was that figured out or have any value? I would have thought most people would watch on TV and those on the internet are doing so on dodgy websites so hows that worked out?

    Links posted earlier.

I agree, I do not care who is the most supported club and regardless a lot of it is impossible to work out. I watch other teams on the Internet occasionally, doesn't mean I support them, for example.

I think the more relevant and factual list was the Forbes list. Clubs values obviously are in a small part decided by the popularity of the club (as well as numerous more importnat factors), hence man U being top.

    Gents <ok>

Can I suggest that we don't give KPR the attention he craves and keep it on topic.

This is an interesting issue and good thread, let's keep it this way <ok>

In the interest of business, clubs should be able to negotiate their own deals.

In the interest of sport they shouldn't. Even as a Chelsea fan I have to agree with the later.

Sorry didnt see the links! But my point was this lists are not always reliable sources. You would think that an orginisation such as Forbes would be reliable however in 2009 Forbes had Liverpool valued at over $1billion! An ambiguous list to say the least.
