I have booked 3 weeks in the States and Canada for September. Only got flight booked so far. Not booking internal flights or hotels or car hire yet. I got scalded last year with 2 holidays to Cuba and USA/Mexico. Some of the American hotels and airlines refused me refunds. My advice to everybody, only make airline, hotel and car hire bookings if you can get a refund if you are forced to cancel.
Just had my first vaccine at The Kassam, Oxford. It was fantastically well organised and everyone there was absolutely brilliant. I had the Oxford vaccine and was told to wait in my car for a 10 minutes in case there was a bad reaction. This roll out is incredibly well organised.
****'s sake. It wasn't long ago the cretin Macron was insisting it wouldn't work on older people. If ever there was a good reason for Brexit!
Nice one mate I have mine next week ( 50+)... you won’t believe this... it’s at the Madejski Stadium Reading! You couldn’t make it up. I hope it’s not fake?
There are arguments for that... A German MEP said today he wished Germany had followed our strategy and not gone with the EU program. Macron has made himself look a real idiot... he will be president of Europe one day.
Staying loyal to the cause. Watford, it’s already been discussed that Germany/France and Italy were negotiating with AZ and then things turned sour when the commission decided to take over things. It all went down hill after that.
It’s not really been discussed. You’ve taken it upon yourself as Not606 Head of Propaganda to decide what happened which isn’t quite the same thing.
Watford it’s Friday... if you are bored go and wind up Col or look back on the politics thread because it was discussed.
Despite the findings of the EMA, I see the country who experienced the blood clots, Norway are still refusing to administer the AZ vaccine. Not only them, Sweden too. The home country of AZ in the EU. Is Norway as a non-EU country playing politics? Where is the outcry?
Specialists in Norway are convinced 3 health workers previously healthy and under 50, got serious immune system responses with blood clots, low blood platelets, internal bleeding triggered by the AstraZenica vaccination. One of the 3 died, as have others with similar sickness profiles. So they aren't starting up AZ vaccination again in Norway, until the National Health and Medicine organisations have investigated further. Believe Denmark, Sweden and Finland are doing similar.
Fingy, seriously, how do you interpret the stats? Less blood clots in the stated amount of vaccinated people as would be found in the same number not vaccinated. Would you refuse the Oxford vaccine based on that? What do you make of Macron warning that the Oxford vaccine wouldn't work on over 65s, only to now say that it will only work on over 55s. It's complete ****wittery mate.
Similar symptoms have been reported in at least Denmark, Germany, Spain, Austria the first I think, read somewhere even the UK has finally admitted now to some similar cases they will look at. The Norwegian Health minister says he wont be making the final decisions on this, it will be the Health/Medical organisations. Claims it won't be political. The EMA are supposedly recommending a severe risk warning is included with the AZ vaccine.
The serious blood clotting and deaths reported have been mostly or all in people under 50, and also mostly female. Maybe because the health workers getting vaccinated are more likely to be under 50 and female, maybe not. I think this is something they hope to find more about.
The most telling stat is that the death rate and infection rate has dropped dramatically in the UK with 40%+ of the population vaccinated. In Europe with 10%+ vaccinated and way behind starting there is a rise in both rates. The miniscule risk with the jab is amply offset by the greater control of the virus. Keep the petty politicking out of it and save lives...
