The fire sale has started already with prices being set.

    Origi 12mil
    Grujic 20mil

We will shortly hear on Wilson (hopefully he will hit one wonder goal soon), ox and Phillip's.

It is abundantly clear that by not finishing in the top four will have a huge negative impact on our finances and put us back a couple of years unless we get a cash injection from FSG or by selling one of our top players.....I very much doubt the latter will happen and if it did, the figures would not be sufficient.

yes, the issue is europa won't generate the cash, it just cannot. it is a very much lesser comp with far lesser money.

if you won every group game, topped the group and went and won the thing you would get 25million euros. the tv money then is by country so we as english might get 30mil euros.

just to say it you can may 82million winning the CL if you add on the tv money pool then its north of 100mil.

the CL is worth double the europa.

It’s worth treble the amount, without factoring club specific sponsorship deals that’ll obvs have CL related clauses.

fairly certain an English club can earn quite a bit more than that as your figure doesn't seem to include the coefficient based prize money .

i stated "so we as english might get 30mil euros."

and "just to say it you can may 82million winning the CL if you add on the tv money pool then its north of 100mil."

there is money in it but not enough to have the massive risk of missing out on 4th AND not winning the europa. see our mates from white hart lane and arsenal last year.

It quite amazing how theres a lot of examples of clubs trying to win in the europa and end up out of top 4. Its really competitive here especially so any disadvantage hurts when things are not quite right.

If we want 40 or 50mil sure qualify or the europa but going out in the last 32 isn't good.

You make this sound like we have a choice. With nine games left and the form that we are in at Anfield, which one of the current top four are we supposed to be catching, let alone surpassing West Ham, Spurs, and Everton and staying there? We've seventh this season at best, sixth at a push. Doing okay in the CL, and yes we should concentrate there - but if we get past Real (maybe) we'll not get past Chelsea over two legs, nor City, PSG, or Bayern in the final.

Why is that not likely? FSG have done it before. Certainly more likely than FSG putting their hands in their pockets.

long term yes. the risk of being in the europa and crapping out like arsenal and ending up in it for 2 or 3 years is not good

In 2016 when we lost the europa final and ended up 8th it looked a disaster yet 12 months later we got 4th and we then kicked on from there.

I just don't think we have the squad to do it. Its obviously better than 2016 by a mile but its a competitive league.

Still better than nothing. You've sisu said the kids and reserves are enough to get us through the group stage, that alone is enough to keep our coefficient at a acceptable level. Sack the competition off later like we did back then.

Well, he does it with the domestic cups every year and sort of did it (until the semi-finals) when we were in the EL before. If kids and reserves keep winning, great.
