It wasn’t on the field performance that cost him his job. Think there have been big disagreements between the board and Wilder on things like recruitment and plans for next season. He did a great job getting them up but considering they’ve spent more than £70million since last January, he was wrong to keep moaning about lack of money and to frequently say the squad was full of championship players.

I can remember Millwall being top of the league in December and going down in the 2nd tier. Mick McCarthy ****ed off for the Ireland job, they drew on the last day and went down! 1995/96. Not sure about the Premier League, but I can't remember it happening.
Wolves under Mick McCarthy were top when we went to Molynuex about 9 or 10years ago. We won 3-0, think Adebayor scored. Wolves went down that year.
