Match Preview;
QPR have now won seven of our last ten games, losing two and drawing one of the other three. This run has seen us move comfortably into mid-table, currently 12th. I very much doubt this year will finish with anything other than a mid to upper mid-table finish, but the signs are there that we are turning into a decent side. The loan acquisitions of Austin, De Wijs, Johansen and Field seem to have strengthened the squad, and we are heading in the right direction. A win could see us move up to 10th, but still 9 points off playoffs with 13 still to play. Not impossible, but pretty unlikely.

As for Huddersfield, after their relegation from the top flight in 2019, they finished 18th last year, and currently sit in 18th. Their top scorer is Fraizer Campbell with 7 goals. They are six points clear of the drop zone, so a bad run could see them getting sucked right into trouble. Team news from their website is;

QPR: Luke Amos, Tom Carroll and Charlie Owens remain sidelined with long-term knee injuries.

Huddersfield: Jonathan Hogg, Danny Ward and Alex Pritchard are all set to be available for the Sky Bet Championship encounter at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium having been back in training this week. The former two have completed slightly longer recovery processes to return to the training pitch ahead of the match in the capital. “These players have made the training with the group, both players (Hogg and Ward) have options to be available with the squad,” said Carlos speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon. “We know it’s a long time Danny has been without minutes in the competition, we’ve had to adapt his body to the demanding again, so the minutes he played with the B Team was important for him.” Pritchard also played 65 minutes in that game and scored as he returned to the pitch having missed the Terriers’ last two games with a knock.

QPR manager Mark Warburton: “Winning our game in hand would take us into the top 10, but we face a tough run of games and we have to meet the challenge one game at a time – starting with a tough game tomorrow against Huddersfield.”

Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberan: “QPR have changed a lot since the start of the season, with new players and shape. But they have very good form, so we must be careful because they will be confident.”

My recollection dodgy at best, is that they beat us easily up there earlier this season, and they looked like the best team we'd faced all season at that point. As they are 18th they clearly aren't too good, and we must of been bad that day. We need to turn that around Saturday.

The game up there is when the defence and midfield took social distancing to a whole new level and spectually parted to concede. However, alot has changed since then. New players have come in and the team seem to have found some impressive form.

Hopefully, we will give them a game and we will come away with three points...and a step closer to staying up.

I expect changes, purely down to preventing fatigue and injury.

But I think they should keep the same system and try to see who can fit well into it.

That looks like our best team and 5 of them arrived, 4 temporarily, in January.

I’m not whether to applaud a sensational winter window or ask what the **** happened last summer, which was clearly a disaster.

You don’t often get a get out of jail free card in January, we can’t afford another bad window this summer if we are to see some continued improvement. 60 points this season, 70 next. Do it.

Dieng, 4 year contract, Dickie, Willock and Amos last summer, plus a Scottish International who may still come good for us, at moderate cost. The first 3 named are probably all worth a chunk more than what we paid for them, though I hope we keep and build around them. Hardly a disaster.

Come on Rrrrrrsssss. Let’s see a good game. Keep tight at the back, clean sheet, and keep the pressure on a team that seems to be struggling of late and will be lacking in confidence. Need to come out of the blocks and press early to get them on the back foot and doubting themselves.
Let’s be having those three points you hoops!!!
