Classical Athens. Rome from the 6th Century BC til the time of Augustus.

My fav story is the richest man in Roman history who made up the power trifecta in their society, buying himself a legion - as you do, pissing off to the east and just dying with everyone else.

Rome man, what a time to be alive.

Yup. I was referring to England which only really had it's 'established' monarchy from Medieval times after the Normans conquered Britain. Before that there were the Kingdoms of East Anglia, Mercia, Northumbria, Kent, Essex, Sussex, and Wessex. And before that local Chieftans.

So there's always been powerful men ruling over the masses. This lot though are just a random German family who happened upon the throne.

it became more "we should have a monarchy cos thats what you do" as opposed to there being a logical reason to have one

when we gave people independence we tried to plonk down royals cos "its what ye do ini"

I think you may be referring to Marcus Lucinius Crassus, one of the triumvirate who ruled Rome along with Julius Caesar and Gnauis Pompey. Often confused in legend with the Greek King Creosus, from whom we get the expression "rich as Croesus"

Like Crassus, Creosus died in battle in what is now Iraq, and according to some accounts, was killed by the imaginative Persians who melted gold and poured it down his throat.

All history is the history of class struggle. Since ancient times, though, the ruling classes haven't had it all their own way.

But you can definitely trace the English class system, and most of the aristocracy (excluding the current Royals) to William the Bastard, who carved it all up with his robber Barons after 1066.

So not the Queen or Hubby, so who do we reckon?
His bro.?

Could be why they've fallen out.

Just seen a clip of him saying Charles don't take his calls, so maybe his old man

You know what's quite telling, is that the media seem to be more outraged about megz saying she felt a certain way Than Prince Andrew dropping himself right fukin init during his interview & actively ducking a rape/**** charge.

Jus sayin

A soap opera rather than the nitty gritty about uncle Andrew....so typical of mainstream media though

A Vile family and hats off to harry Hewitt for fking them up the dirt box.
