Is it anti-vacc? Must admit I'm not quite sure what it means. My first thought was it might be taking the rise out of GP's, though I don't know why anybody would want to do that. Or maybe it's just generally anti-authoritarian. Rightly or not, quite a few of us are getting a little tired of being told what to do. (though personally I find politicians more objectionable than doctors in that regard). The mask reference is obvious enough but none of the vaccines are experimental, so that is a poor connection. And we know at least 20% of people with COVID19 are asymptomatic. They do feel perfectly well so they don't isolate and spread the virus to other people, who do get sick with it.
Breaking news by the way, that one of the Brazilian variants has been detected in the UK. Interesting timing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56233038 I'm not suggesting the news isn't true. Just that it comes at a convenient time from the point of view of reminding people that all the lockdown restrictions still apply. The general impression I get is that folks are beginning to relax - perhaps more than a little bit. A natural development maybe, but not a helpful one.
People are already relaxing the “Lockdown” - packed down here again today , if the police want to raise some revenue they only need a car equipped with ANPR to visit the car parks and roads down here and I bet 90% will be unnecessary journeys
Spoke to my mate yesterday, he told me he was considering leaving Whitstable because he says the day trippers was getting ridiculous ... even outside the summer period!
I live just along the coast from Whitstable- it’s a little more spacious and so the trippers don’t really bother me normally, it’s just ridiculous the amount we’re getting while supposedly being in lockdown that’s getting beyond a joke
Same road as Janet street Porter and Harry Hill ? Some nice gaffs up there and The Rose in Bloom is a decent boozer
Not anti-vacc, I have had mine and recommend that others do so. It's just a sardonic comment on the fact that most people in the country won't even be unwell after contact with the virus. I get lots of nonsense sent to me and this made me smile. I had no deeper intention than sharing the smile.
Ah, okay then. It's the word "experimental" which changes it though, and is wrong for reasons of which you are no doubt aware.
To be honest I didn't think it through in any depth. I saw it, smiled and posted it. You are, of course, correct.
We're crawling out of the third wave of cases here in Spain - like the UK, the infection levels are dropping fast and the deaths and ICU occupation rates are all finally coming down. Health people are warning of a possible fourth wave if we relax too fast, so we'll have to wait and see if people take it seriously. The vaccine roll out continues to be achingly slow here though. I loathye the current UK government and their long list of covid failures, but they have shown the way with the vaccine program (which makes me wonder if that is to do with getting the right people to take charge rather than the usual cronyism they have indulged in). Whatever, there are a few governments here in the EU who should be ringing up to find out how to do it as well as the UK.
I thought I read a story a month or two ago about there being no pandemic rules or social distancing on the Isle of Man, because they had no Coronavirus there. Curiously, this BBC report fails to mention that... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-56245100
This is not great news, just a few days before millions of kids go back to school... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56271627 The rate of decline of infections is falling. That is to be expected in some ways, as the initial sharp decline in February was from a very high level. But there is a bit of evidence just emerging that rates may actually be going up again in some areas of London. And this, with no pandemic restrictions lifted yet. We're still in full lockdown. More and more people are ignoring the rules I think.
Bromley during the week is reasonably empty, from my limited experience. However, that all changes on a Saturday and Sunday.
