I just found out yesterday, probably the same way that others did.

If Syd had just given up I think that he would have told us, so I don't think that.

He warned us a few months ago and it hasn't picked up, unfortunately.

Think about what the average age on there must be, and that's probably the answer :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Yeah it was ok on there at times
More so in the early days
Then I think most of the posters were from abroad and posted different times

I have met Syd at Sol quite a few times and can honestly say he is one of the nicest people I have ever come across. But I think he wanted other members to be as prolific a poster as he was. Which was never going to happen. And the loss of Billy D and his buddy Dave had a big part in his decision to close down.

He can be a cantankerous old bugger, but he does have a heart of gold..

He was an East Ender and not too spry on his pins, more often than not, I always popped over to say hi before a game but hey ho...life's too short and all that.

Someone pointed out to me that on this forum if someone is getting on your tits you just use Ignore...

I’ve met Syd he sits in front of me
I’ve also met dave sadly rip
I was at billy funeral rip
All nice people
However I think you are correct about Syd
He wanted people to constantly post
And since the members from abroad became more prominent
The posting were all at different times

Billy face to face was nothing like you would have expected. He was a little bloke who was quite reserved until he gained his confidence. Dave was just a smashing kind hearted man.. R.I.P. to both of them.
Didn’t Billy’s son post from time to time - cannot remember his username.
