People never get into courses such as journalism because the competition... These are the people they are competing with them. A huge company like this should never even think of making mistakes like this. Utter shambles
BBC dont give a damn about F1 coverage. At least ITV gave it full attention as one of its prime sports viewings
I'm pretty disappointed with the BBC at the moment. There is no justification for them cutting services when they have 'journalists' like Sarah Holt being paid to travel around reporting on nothing. I know the guys on this thread are primarily F1 fans but I follow football also and it's the same there, they have useless pundits everywhere like Robbie Savage and Danny Mills, who are paid to basically talk tripe and be annoying. The BBC has even employed a new pit-lane reporter, whats the need for that, couldn't they have done it internally, maybe got Sara Holt to do it for example? BBC- epic fail in my book!
Got into the office at BBC HQ today & handily found an F1 team launch downstairs. Virgin present their 2011 car - Sarah Holt I also noted they called Boulier, Houllier in the early version of the Kubica story. I get the feeling they dont have specialist F1 knowledgable people at the BBC other than Brundle and DC
Not just the pit stops. On average (I did keep a check on a number of occasions) the advert breaks accounted for as much as 20% of the race. That's a fifth. Or 12 laps of a 60 lap race such as the British Grand Prix. I know which kind of 'Full attention' I'd rather have.
Funny you should say that actually. I remember watching a GP with me dad and grandad and we counted how many 'breaks' they had. Now a 60 lap race back then was, as you said, the British GP and I think we were watching the Malaysian GP, which has 56 laps. Even then we counted 6 of these breaks, which by my count is about 1 every 9 laps

That's because ITV were taking the piss with the number of ads in Grands Prix, and it got worse towards the end of their tenure. Football would never have allowed it. Do you remember the infamous occasion when they actually missed the end of the race at Imola (not only that but a particularly exciting one with Schumacher holding off Alonso,I seem to remember), due to an ad break and had to replay the last two or three laps afterwards? Disgraceful behaviour and I for one was glad to see the back of them. So if the BBC make some reporting or journalistic errors, that's forgivable for me, as they are getting the basics right.
BBC got the rights because ITV wasn't making any money out of F1 no matter how many adverts they have thrown though-out the race

Sarah Holt makes a misleading article on the BBC page titled "Red Bull on top so far - Alonso" That's not exactly what Alonso said, he only made the point that they are expected to be ahead: Alonso said: "We all know that Red Bull should be ahead of everybody. So we expect Red Bull to be very competitive."
She isn't very good at this. She got excited that Alguersuari had second place by 0.2 of a second. wow it's testing, this is supposed to happen. If she interviews a driver at the start of the season, and takes accounts of whoever had the fastest lap in the last test session, she should be shot........bring back Murray Walker in the commentary box, and let Coulthard interview everyone, I'm sure people would actually appreciate talking to him.

Any evidence to support this Andrew? Bollocks. He could have won it last year without errors/ bad luck, and without mistakes he could have been very close to Vettel this year and have a realistic chance It's 2014! When has Vettel given his views about Hamilton as a teammate? Where's his proof of that? Then his nonsense about the second Ferrari seat is just speculation at the moment. I would trust him when he says "I'm told" or "I understand".
