Now Monkey Dust really was a genius show. I recall posting a video of 'Timmy and Daddy' on here a few months ago. A few sensitive souls said I was sick and it wasn't funny to mock such a situation. <doh><laugh>

I'm disgusted! Trigger Happy TV was class man!

Not Going Out is my favourite then.

They only released the first series on DVD anyway, there were a couple of issues regarding the producer dying and copyright over the soundtrack.

This - I never watched many of the 'classics' growing up and I fail to see a lot of their appeal. Perhaps they seem a bit dated 'cause newer shows have ripped off their jokes and made them shinier and more modern. From the point of view of script writing though, none of them touch the office.

    Extras is also genius!

Other than 'Only Fools...' I never watched the classics. But even when I see them now, I appreciate the skill and the wit required to have produced them. When I see some of the crap that's on now, especially on the BBC, I want to punch something. 20 years ago the BBC had 'Only Fools...'. 10 years ago it had 'The Office'. What does it have now? That ****ing God-awful show 'Coming of Age'. <doh>

it should be said again and again though:

Blackadder Goes Forth is the absolute pinnacle of British Comedy and has not yet been bettered, and I doubt it ever will.
And the end of last episode should be a lesson for all American comedies on how to do heartwrenching without schmaltz.

Peep Show and Not Going Out would probably be my favourite 'newer' British comedies.

The Simpsons did heartwrenching without schmaltz for a while.

I do agree that that Blackadder ending is incredible, though.
