I am sure I have answered this before. Because the rugby club don't have to answer to Ashton, he wouldn't last 5 minutes.
He has with the egg chasers, so why not, I know the finances are much higher with football, but the principle of giving control is the same
Then that would mean SL has more dealings with Pat Lamb. No idea why bringing Ashton into this proves anything when we are talking about SL only employing yes men. All you’ve done is show that Lamb won’t take Ashton’s nonsense which means he is further away from being a yes man. So if SL only employs yes men why has he employed Pat Lamb?
OK SL seemingly does that by proxy by allowing Ashton to only bring in yes men. LJ was and Holden is. The rugby club have their own CEO ex Bristol rugby player Mark Tainton. If SL allows him to make decisions in the same way that Ashton does, within budgets, the Bobs yer uncle.
So in that case why do people always say Lansdown only employs yes men. When looking at the rugby proves is not the case. Plus Ashton has only been with us since 2016. Before that he was a consultant on transfer data basis. If people said Ashton only employs yes man would be more fitting.
Financial and structure between football and rugby are chalk and cheese Ashton. It Didn't take much to turn a troubled Bristol Rugby club into a top outfit. Different ball game regarding the zillions required to turn City into a top outfit. It's like comparing LJ to Messi as a player & Deano to Pepe as a coach
I agree but SL is the owner so again and presumably signs off on these appointments. My feeling is that SL decided to hand over power to a CEO after problems with SOD and Cotterill left a bad taste.
Ashton recommended to the board and employed both LJ & DH, they were and are his little yes men, he pulls the strings of the football club, Lansdown is the owner and if he can't see the obvious then god help us. The more you compare the football and rugby club the more stark things become, Ashton has lost it, whilst he is there the future is bleak, a change is needed at the top.
Bottom line Pat Lamb proven and has the T shirt. Top end of Rugby’s premiership. Dean Holden the previous managers NO2 promoted from the failed duo’s tenure. Not proven was a monster gamble which is now shown it for what is really is. A huge mistake as was Millen and Tinnion. Surely SL can see what is happening city are sinking and a relaxation battle is very likely on current form and stats.
Who cares, they’re both former managers now and nothing to do with BCFC anymore. You need to move on RP and Wiz...
Hang on a cotton-picking minute! For 4 years we had RP bleating about how only daddy or 'Uncle Steve' would employ LJ. As I always read it, this formed the basis of Redprintt's nepotism claim; therefore, hatred of LJ? Yet now you're saying that it was actually MA who employed LJ, so not daddy or 'Uncle Steve' at all? Redprintt must feel cheated now, and maybe a touch foolish after all his comments, that now seem unfounded You couldn't make this up
What you can't make up is 63 players signed, £m's invested, 5 places progress in 4.5 years, you can't make that up,it's fact, the dynamic duo, Ashton & Johnson.
That wasn't the point in question though was it, but you can always rely on an anti LJ'er to turn things around when their points are proven invalid! You are correct on the other points though, (except, at best he improved us 14 places, at worst 10 places since SC left us 22nd in the table...), but as usual, you miss the point about the even more £m's brought into the club than he spent. Another thing you can always rely on anti LJ'er to convienantly overlook
Did Pat Lamb win the Rugby cup with the same players that other coaches had struggled with? Genuine question - I don't follow Rugby. If not, then changing the manager would be only the beginning of the reform. How much is a Rugby forward, prop or winger, compared to a football striker, midfielder or defender in terms of both purchase price and wages? Is there a Rugby equivalent of the Bosman rule and FIFA Fair Play?
Of course you can rely on me, to repudiate your points of view with regard to LJ, I think he was a total failure, he promised Premier league football, he promised European competition in 5 years, he promised a successful team after 3 transfer windows, he flopped, apart from flipped, no promotions, no honours, his record followed the same pattern as with Oldham & Barnsley, broken promises and streaky runs, 5 overall places in 4.5 years, culminating in the sack, nothing invalid about that. We have opposite opinions, we are bound to argue, no harm in that.
Cotts must have been jumping up and down with joy, the little club he's employed by compared to LJ's Sunderland.....must have felt like a cup shock for him!!! I took so much interest, I didn't even know they were playing......what I did notice however, the gas had another good result!
