Well I wasn’t going to post this, but I’ll use this thread to say my piece.
Me and the wife went to Tesco’s last week, and I was refused entry because the security guard said 'one person per household' ok I said, and we both turned around and headed home.
Ohhhhh to our surprise, a group of about 7/8 people walked straight past us and the security guard into the shop. These were not 7/8 individual shoppers, they were some families and couples.
My point is why pick an easy target, two nearly 70 year olds who need support, then openly let others into the shop ?
It beggers belief, this panademic, people like us adhering to the rules, not going out except for essential walk and shop.
Nevertheless, celebrities like Robbie Williams and others seem to just go on as normal, having holidays and basically having a just could not care less attitude.
People travelling in planes trains and automobiles, with no concern about others.

I'm 45, wife 35, both fit and healthy and, this time around, not yet been stopped from going in anywhere! I understand your frustrations mind!!

Agree Vince and slightly off tack here but a Patterdake Mountain Rescue volunteer received life changing injuries at the weekend in a call out to help two campers who decided to travel from Leicestershire and Liverpool to spend a night or two extreme camping out on the fells and got into difficulties.
Both were fined ( if they bother to pay it) but this guy is now facing an uncertain future because these two dick heads decided the rules don't apply to them, it makes my blood boil.

I suffer from anxiety, and at it’s worst would not be able to go shopping myself. However, as I’m the household chef and enjoy this role I would need my wife’s support.
You totally have my sympathy, especially when a parent walks in with a 14 year old without a face covering and nothing is said.
I’d probably email the store as a matter of principle.

Same happened to me and our lass last week, I went back to the car and she went to shop. I watched loads of people going through the doors in 3s and 4s and not a word was said. I was gonna go up and say something but I know our lass would’ve gone mad at me cause I can go overboard when I start lol

Frustrating isn’t it?
Over here we have staff on the doors at some shops looking in customers bags as they leave. I just ignore them and keep on walking. Yet some actually queue up to show the staff their bags and receipts.
My argument is that you shouldn’t have to prove your honesty to anyone, least of all the little hitlers they put on the doors. I want to voice my opinion when I see it happening but Mrs EJK has a proper go at me if I do. Hence I don’t do it.....that often.

You would think that most people would be glad of the rule. Men given a get out from grocery shopping , or any man volunteering to do it could score browny points as the woman enjoys a “ feet up”. Obs, some do need support of another person, but sad that so many think food shopping is a social or day out. On a better note , anyone think supermarkets are a bit quieter ( during week at least ) maybe because folk are being more organised and doing one big shop a week , rather than multiple small visits?

It's funny when they ask to look in your bags and you say no. They honestly have no idea what to do or say :emoticon-0102-bigsm

What gets on my tits is when you see whole familys grocery shopping. It doesn't take 5 friggin people to walk side by side down an aisle to buy 1 loaf of bread.

Jobsworths mate. Mind you once he had let them others in I probably would have went back and tw*tted him. F*ck the fine it may have learned him a lesson. It should apply to one and all.
 
I can understand the rule. Its not just for covid distancing safety its for quickness as well. You get 8 individual shoppers queuing outside the doors in the cold because a family of 8 including unruly kids are buzzing around doing a massive monthly shop. Its infuriating. However at times its a rule thats difficult to police. That family of 8 might include a single parent who is not able to find child care. Why risk a grandparents covid exposure by dropping 7 kids off to take care of them for an hour whilst the parent shops? A shopper might need a partner with them for mental or physical support. Its not just shoppers its the workers as well. There are at least 6 regular workers in my local Tesco who do not wear masks. They claim anxiety. Now I've no doubt that some of them are genuine. But I also suspect that some of them just dont want to wear one. I know that one of them has confessed that he doesnt wear one due to vanity but has used his supposed anxiety as an excuse. Anyway there are a long line of regulations that are virtually impossible to police fairly. The OP might have been unlucky. The security guard might have a very relaxed approach but has a quota regarding the number of people he has to stop. His boss might have been watching him at that very instant. He's possibly been told to allow big families of 8 through cos they will be spending huge amounts of cash. But stop 'two nearly 70 year olds' because they possibly wont be. If the security guard was a jobsworth, and had a 100% success rate in stopping folk, Tesco would get rid of him due to a reduction in their profits.

Not a fan personally. Tried it a couple of times years ago. Just hated the fact that, for example, you asked for a Tesco's finest gourmet something or other, but as its not in stock, they drop off Bertie Bumsteads cheapie nasty crap instead.

I watched that on the news yesterday, poor bloke has laid his life on the line for all of us and the two dickheads got a £200 fine each.

Me and the misses like to go to Morrison’s seaburn particular to get the fish pies
However it’s out our area
And the missus will not go
And that abiding the rules
